What is Mobile Production Output Reporting?

A phone/tablet app for shop-floor operators to register consumption and output against production orders, with live operation, capacity-load and order-line overviews. Built, installed as a per-tenant AL extension, and supported by ECOSIRE on your Business Central environment. Built to order by ECOSIRE for Dynamics 365 BC (build-to-order) — indicative price from $999.00 USD; request a quote for a scoped proposal.

Key Features

Mobile consumption and output registration posted through native BC Output and Consumption journals (item ledger, capacity ledger and WIP stay correct)
Operation-line overview showing routing lines, remaining quantity, setup/run time and reported output per work/machine center
Capacity-load overview surfacing load against work and machine centers so operators and supervisors see bottlenecks live
Production-order line status at a glance: released, finished quantity, scrapped and remaining across all lines
Barcode/QR scan-to-select for production order, operation and item using the device camera or a paired scanner
Scrap and rework capture with configurable scrap reason codes, posted to the correct ledgers
Built in AL as table extensions, page extensions and event subscribers over the standard Production Order objects (no shadow data)
Delivered as a responsive BC client surface or a Power Apps canvas app over the OData v4 / REST API and Dataverse virtual tables
Dedicated permission set restricting operators to shop-floor reporting actions only
Unit-of-measure and routing-aware posting that respects flushing method (manual, forward, backward) per component
Offline-tolerant capture pattern with retry so a dropped connection on the floor does not lose a posting
Optional job queue entry for batch finalization and end-of-shift reconciliation

About this Product

Mobile Production Output Reporting brings shop-floor reporting to the devices your operators already carry. Instead of walking back to a desktop or batching paper output sheets, operators open a phone or tablet, scan or select a released production order and operation, and post consumption and output directly against Business Central — including scrap and rework — in a few taps.

This is a build-to-order extension, not an instant AppSource download. ECOSIRE builds it in AL as a per-tenant extension scoped to your environment, then installs and supports it on your Business Central tenant (online or on-premises). We extend the standard manufacturing tables and pages (Production Order, Prod. Order Line, Prod. Order Routing Line, and the underlying Item Journal / Output Journal posting routines) using table and page extensions plus event subscribers — so posting flows through native costing, item ledger, capacity ledger and WIP exactly as a desk-bound user would, with no parallel data store.

The mobile experience can be delivered as a responsive Business Central role-tailored client surface for the Business Central mobile app, or as a Power Apps canvas app talking to Business Central through the standard OData v4 / REST API and Dataverse virtual tables — chosen during scoping to match your device fleet and licensing. Either way you get operation-line and capacity-load overviews, production-order line status at a glance, and barcode scan-to-select for order and operation.

Because we own the build, we tailor it to your routing structure, unit-of-measure handling, scrap codes and permission model. We ship a dedicated permission set, document the API surface, and hand over source. After go-live we provide a warranty period and an ongoing support/update option as Business Central moves through its semiannual release waves.

What you get

  • Per-tenant AL extension (.app) built, signed and installed on your Business Central environment by ECOSIRE
  • Mobile front end delivered as a responsive BC client surface or a Power Apps canvas app, configured to your device fleet
  • Dedicated permission set(s) for shop-floor operator roles, assigned during deployment
  • Configuration of scrap reason codes, flushing methods and scan formats to match your routings
  • Source code and AL project handover with a documented OData/REST API surface
  • Deployment runbook plus a short operator and supervisor training session
  • Warranty period for defect fixes after go-live, with an optional ongoing support and release-wave compatibility plan

Who this is for

Operations Manager

Wants lightweight, low-cost mobile shop-floor reporting on the phones and tablets the team already owns — without buying rugged terminals or a separate MES — and needs output, consumption and scrap to land in Business Central in real time.

Production Supervisor / Shift Lead

Needs the capacity-load and operation-line overviews to spot bottlenecks and lagging operations during the shift, and to confirm each production-order line is being reported accurately as it finishes.

Shop-Floor Operator

Needs to scan an order and operation, then register output, consumption, scrap and rework in a few taps at the machine — fast, with minimal typing and no walk to a shared desktop.

Frequently Asked Questions about Mobile Production Output Reporting

Is this a download from Microsoft AppSource?

No. Mobile Production Output Reporting is build-to-order. ECOSIRE builds it in AL as a per-tenant extension scoped to your environment, then installs it on your Business Central tenant (online or on-premises) and supports it. There is no instant AppSource listing — that is deliberate, because we tailor the routing, scrap codes, unit-of-measure handling and permission model to your operation.

How long does delivery take?

Typical lead time is about one working week from a confirmed scope, depending on the complexity of your routings, your device/licensing choice (BC mobile client vs Power Apps canvas app) and the number of scrap/rework scenarios. After a short scoping call we confirm a firm date. Installation as a per-tenant extension and the operator training session are included in that timeline.

What about ongoing support and Business Central updates?

Every build includes a warranty period for defect fixes after go-live. Business Central ships two major release waves a year, so we also offer an ongoing support and compatibility plan: we re-test the extension against each wave, fix any breaking change from deprecated objects or events, and apply small enhancements. You own the source either way, so you are never locked in.

Will mobile postings affect costing, inventory and WIP correctly?

Yes. We do not maintain a parallel data store. Output, consumption, scrap and rework post through the standard Business Central journals and posting routines via event subscribers, so the item ledger, capacity ledger entries, WIP and finished-goods costing behave exactly as if a user posted from the desktop Output Journal — just from a phone on the floor.

Can operators work where there is poor Wi-Fi on the floor?

We build an offline-tolerant capture pattern: a posting captured during a connectivity drop is queued on the device and retried, so a brief signal loss does not discard an operator's entry. Full coverage is still recommended for the live capacity-load and order-line overviews, which read from Business Central in real time.
