About this Product
Hospitals and clinics that grow on Odoo hit the same wall: patient records, departments, wards, medical staff, and clinical reference data end up scattered across res.partner, a few custom fields, and disconnected spreadsheets. Odoo core has no concept of a patient distinct from a generic contact, no unified clinical taxonomy, and no shared security layer for protected health data. Every team that tries to bolt on appointments, pharmacy, laboratory, or billing modules ends up re-inventing the same base objects slightly differently, so the modules never link cleanly and reporting fractures. This foundation module fixes that at the root: it establishes the canonical, shared models and base logic that every downstream HMS module reads from, so the whole clinical suite speaks one data language.
We build a dedicated base module whose __manifest__.py declares the low-level dependency the rest of your HMS stack sits on. At its core are new models.Model definitions — a patient entity extending or delegating to res.partner, plus departments, wards/rooms, medical staff roles, and shared reference sets (blood groups, medical specialities, appointment/case states) — each with typed fields, @api.depends computed values (age from date of birth, occupancy counts, active-case rollups), and @api.constrains validation so bad clinical data is rejected at the ORM layer, not discovered later in a report. Sequences (ir.sequence) generate human-readable patient and case identifiers; selection and Many2one relations give every future module clean foreign keys instead of free-text. Because this is the shared layer, we design the schema for extension — mixins and abstract models other modules inherit — so appointments, pharmacy, and lab modules add behavior without forking the base.
Security is treated as a first-class deliverable, not an afterthought. We ship ir.model.access.csv access rules mapped to purpose-built groups (receptionist, nurse, physician, records officer, administrator) and ir.rule record rules that enforce record-level visibility — for example, scoping records by department or company for multi-branch groups. Views are delivered as clean XML (list, form, kanban, search) with an OWL-friendly structure, menus and actions wired under a dedicated Hospital root menu, and QWeb report templates for the base identity and summary documents. Where day-two automation helps, we add server actions and automated actions (base.automation) — for instance, stamping audit fields or firing follow-up activities on state changes. The models are exposed cleanly over Odoo's XML-RPC / JSON-RPC API so external systems (kiosks, patient portals, insurance connectors) can integrate against a stable contract.
This is build-to-order, so nothing is downloaded off a shelf. After a short scoping call we confirm the exact model set, security matrix, and Odoo edition (Community vs Enterprise changes what we can lean on natively), then build against your target version — Odoo 17.0, 18.0, or 19.0 — and validate on a staging copy of your database before anything touches production. Typical delivery is one working week from confirmed scope. You receive installable source, documentation, UAT sign-off, and a post-go-live support window. Pricing starts from $999 (indicative, single-company base scope); multi-company/multi-branch record rules, deeper localization of clinical reference data, and the volume of legacy patient data to migrate increase the quoted scope.
What you get
- Installable, version-targeted source code for your Odoo edition (17.0 / 18.0 / 19.0) built as a proper base dependency module
- Installation and configuration on your instance, including groups, sequences, and menu wiring
- Technical documentation — model reference, ERD, security matrix, and extension guide for downstream HMS modules
- End-user guide plus a live training session for administrators and records staff
- UAT on a staging copy of your database with a documented rollback plan before production cutover
- Legacy patient/contact data migration mapped into the new base models (volume-dependent)
- Post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration questions
- Git repository handover with full commit history and tagged release
Who this is for
Hospital IT / ERP manager
Owns the Odoo instance and needs a clean, well-secured foundation that future HMS modules can safely build on, rather than ad-hoc custom fields that break on upgrade.
Odoo implementation partner
Delivering a healthcare project and wants a maintained base layer — shared models, security groups, sequences — so their appointment, pharmacy, and billing modules link cleanly instead of each defining its own patient object.
Clinic operations director
Runs day-to-day patient flow across departments and wards and needs a single, reliable patient and department data model with role-based access enforced at the record level.
Multi-branch hospital group administrator
Manages several facilities in one Odoo database and requires company-scoped record rules, per-branch sequences, and consistent clinical reference data across all sites.
How Base - Hospital Management System Compares
| Criterion | ECOSIRE | Custom Build | Competitor | Odoo Native |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delivery model | Built to order for your instance, installed and supported | You spec, build, and maintain it in-house | Instant download, generic to everyone | Nothing to deliver — no HMS concept exists |
| Patient data model | Canonical Patient extending `res.partner` with clinical fields | Whatever your developer designs from scratch | Fixed schema you cannot easily reshape | Only generic contacts — no patient entity |
| Security & access | Role groups + record-level `ir.rule` scoping by dept/company | Depends entirely on in-house effort | Basic groups, rarely record-level per branch | Generic Odoo access, no clinical roles |
| Extensibility for HMS modules | Mixins and abstract models designed for downstream reuse | As reusable as your team makes it | Often monolithic; hard to extend cleanly | No shared HMS base to extend |
| Odoo version fit | Targeted build for your exact 17/18/19 + edition | You port and retest each upgrade | May lag your version or edition | Ships with core, but no HMS layer |
| Data migration | Legacy records mapped into the new base models | You write and validate the migration | Usually not included | Not applicable |
| Ongoing support | Post-go-live window plus optional maintenance | Your team is the support line | Varies; often forum-only | General Odoo support only |
| Total cost profile | From $999 indicative; fixed quote after scoping | High developer time and maintenance cost | Low list price, hidden fit/rework cost | No license cost, no capability either |
Frequently Asked Questions about Base - Hospital Management System
Is this a ready-made app I can download and install today?
No. This is a build-to-order engagement, not an existing marketplace download. After a scoping call we confirm your exact model set, security matrix, and Odoo version, then build, install, and support the module for you.
How long does delivery take?
Typical delivery is one working week from confirmed scope. Simple single-company base scope lands toward the shorter end; multi-branch security rules, heavy data migration, or localization work extend the timeline, which we confirm during scoping.
How does pricing and scoping work?
Pricing starts from $999 as an indicative single-company base-scope figure. It is not a fixed quote — after a short scoping call we send a firm fixed quote reflecting your Odoo edition, multi-company needs, integrations, and data migration volume.
Which Odoo versions do you support?
We build for Odoo 17.0, 18.0, and 19.0, on both Community and Enterprise. The edition affects what we can rely on natively versus build ourselves, and we target the exact version running on your instance.
What about ongoing support and updates?
Every engagement includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration help. Beyond that, we offer maintenance and version-upgrade support as a separate arrangement, since Odoo major-version upgrades require rebuilding and retesting the module.
Why buy a base foundation module instead of just adding custom fields?
Ad-hoc custom fields don't give other modules stable foreign keys, shared security, or a consistent clinical taxonomy — so each new module reinvents the patient object slightly differently. This base layer defines canonical models, sequences, and `ir.rule` policies once, so the whole HMS suite links cleanly and survives upgrades.
Do we own the code and can we extend it ourselves?
Yes. You receive the full installable source and a git repository handover with commit history. The base is deliberately designed with mixins and inheritable models so your team or another partner can extend it without forking.
