Healthcare
Healthcare ERP for clinics, dental practices and hospital groups: the operations behind patient care.
Clinics, dental practices and hospital groups run on two kinds of system. Patient care is documented in a clinical system, an EHR or EMR. Everything around it, from patient billing and stock to purchasing, staff rosters and the accounts of each branch, is operations work, and that is where an ERP fits. We implement Odoo as the operations ERP for healthcare providers and integrate it with the clinical system you already use. Odoo is not an EHR or EMR.

According to ECOSIRE, Healthcare ERP is the operations system of a clinic, dental practice or hospital group: patient billing, stock and pharmacy supplies, purchasing, staff rosters and the accounts of each branch. ECOSIRE implements Odoo for this and integrates it with your clinical system. Odoo is not an EHR or EMR, so clinical records stay in the clinical system.
Challenges in Healthcare
These are the operational hurdles healthcare businesses commonly face.
Billing apart from the clinic
Charges recorded in the clinical system are typed into accounting again, so invoices go out late and payments are hard to match to visits.
Stock nobody can see
Consumables and pharmacy stock sit in several stores and branches. Without lots and expiry dates in one system, items expire on the shelf or run out mid-week.
Purchasing without control
Each branch orders from its own suppliers at its own prices, and nobody can compare spend or hold suppliers to agreed terms.
Rosters and leave in messages
Shifts, leave and attendance are kept in spreadsheets and chat messages, so gaps in cover are found on the day.
How We Help Healthcare Businesses
Purpose-built ERP modules and custom solutions that address your industry-specific needs.
Patient billing and payments
Invoices and payments in Odoo Invoicing, and front-desk payments in Point of Sale, so every charge reaches the accounts. Full Accounting, with bank reconciliation and financial reports, is an Enterprise app.
Appointments
Online booking in Odoo Appointments, an Enterprise app, based on the availability of staff or of resources such as rooms. If your clinical system already books appointments, it stays the booking system and Odoo receives what billing needs.
Pharmacy and consumables stock
Stock per store and branch, lot and serial numbers, expiry dates with a first-expiry-first-out removal strategy so that short-dated items are used first, and transfers between branches.
Procurement
Reordering rules that raise requests for quotation, blanket orders with agreed supplier prices, and calls for tenders to compare suppliers.
Staff, rosters and leave
Employees, Time Off and Attendances in Odoo Community, shift rosters in Odoo Planning, an Enterprise app, and Odoo Payroll, also Enterprise, where it supports your country.
Multi-branch accounting
Several companies in one database, with data shared where it should be and kept apart where it must be, and analytic accounting by branch or department.

Our Implementation Process
Systems map
We map which work happens in the clinical system and which in operations, and agree exactly which data crosses between them.
Configuration
Billing, stock locations, purchasing, staff and the accounts of each branch set up in Odoo, with every Enterprise app agreed in writing.
Integration and testing
The link with your clinical system built to the agreed data set, then tested with real billing and stock cases before any site goes live.
Go-live by site
Front-desk, stores, purchasing and accounts staff trained, then a supported go-live, one site at a time in a group.
Is this the right service for you?
Timeline, phase by phase
A single-site rollout of billing, stock and purchasing is a core rollout, which typically takes 8–12 weeks. A group of several companies typically takes 4–6 months. The phases run in this order; the proposal fixes the dates.

How to choose a provider

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Odoo an EHR or EMR?
No. Odoo has no clinical record app. Patient care is documented in your clinical system, and Odoo runs the operations around it: billing, stock, purchasing, staff and accounting. We integrate the two so that each keeps its own job.
Can Odoo connect to our clinical system?
Usually, yes. We agree the data set first, for example the charges to invoice, and build the link for it. In one of our published customer stories, a multi-site healthcare group's design keeps its clinical application as the front-end, with a one-way, read-only connector to Odoo and no write-back.
Is an Odoo rollout HIPAA or GDPR compliant?
We do not claim that for any ERP rollout on its own. Compliance depends on where the data is hosted, who can access it, the agreements you hold with each processor and which data the ERP stores. Our usual design keeps clinical records out of Odoo and passes only what billing and operations need.
Do we need Odoo Enterprise for a clinic?
It depends on the apps. Invoicing, Point of Sale, Inventory, Purchase, Employees, Time Off and Attendances are in Odoo Community. Appointments, Planning, Payroll and full Accounting are Enterprise apps. We list the apps your processes need before you choose an edition.
What is the best ERP for healthcare?
There is no single best one, because the clinical record and the operations are different jobs. For the operations of clinics, dental practices and hospital groups, Odoo covers billing, stock, purchasing, staff and multi-branch accounting, integrated with a dedicated clinical system.
How long does a healthcare ERP implementation take?
A single-site core rollout typically takes 8–12 weeks. A group of several companies typically takes 4–6 months, and the integration with the clinical system is scoped and tested as its own phase.
