About this Product
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ships a capable workflow engine and the standard Approvals framework, but out of the box it does not gate the manufacturing process: production orders can be refreshed and released, BOMs and routings can be certified, and quality can be released without a mandatory, recorded sign-off. Production Order Approvals & Workflow closes that governance gap.
This is a build-to-order AL extension — not an instant AppSource download. Technically, the app extends the standard Workflow and Approval Entry framework with new workflow event and response codes registered via the Workflow Event/Response Handling codeunits, so your operations team configures approvals in the familiar Workflows page — no hard-coded logic. Table and page extensions add approval status, sign-off, and electronic-signature fields to the Production Order, Production BOM, and Routing pages. EventSubscriber codeunits subscribe to OnBeforeChangeStatusOnProdOrder, BOM/routing certification, and quality-release triggers to block the transition until approvals clear. Every decision writes an immutable audit record (approver, UTC timestamp, comment, signature hash) surfaced on a dedicated FactBox and exposed over the Business Central REST/OData API for Power BI or Dataverse / Power Platform reporting. Threshold and escalation rules (order value, quantity, item category) route to the right approver chain and escalate via the Job Queue when an approval ages out.
