Wholesale Distribution
Wholesale distribution software for stock, pricing, purchasing and B2B orders in one system.
Wholesale distributors buy in bulk, hold stock in more than one warehouse and sell to trade customers on their own price terms. When purchasing, stock, pricing and accounting run in separate tools, margins are guesses and reorders come late. We implement Odoo for wholesale distribution: several warehouses, landed costs in stock value, pricelists per customer or group, reordering rules that raise purchase quotations, a B2B web shop and portal, and lot or serial tracking, all on one set of records.

According to ECOSIRE, Wholesale distribution software keeps purchasing, multi-warehouse stock, customer pricing and accounting on one set of records, so the cost of goods and the margin on each order come from the same data. ECOSIRE implements Odoo for distributors: several warehouses, landed costs, customer pricelists, reordering rules, a B2B web shop and lot or serial tracking. A core rollout typically takes 8–12 weeks; a group of several companies takes 4–6 months.
Challenges in Wholesale Distribution
These are the operational hurdles wholesale distribution businesses commonly face.
Margins you cannot see
Freight, duty and insurance arrive on separate bills, so the cost of the goods in stock is understated and the margin on each sale is a guess until month-end.
Price terms in spreadsheets
Trade customers have their own price lists, volume breaks and agreed discounts. Kept in spreadsheets, they are applied inconsistently and quotes wait for whoever holds the file.
Reordering too late or too much
Without minimum and maximum levels per product and warehouse, buyers react to stock-outs or overbuy slow lines, and cash sits on the shelf.
Orders keyed in twice
Orders arrive by email, phone, the web shop and marketplaces, and each one is typed in again before it can be picked. That is where the errors start.
How We Help Wholesale Distribution Businesses
Purpose-built ERP modules and custom solutions that address your industry-specific needs.
Multi-warehouse inventory
Several warehouses in one database, each with its own locations, stock moves between them and resupply from a central warehouse.
Landed costs in stock value
Shipment, insurance, customs duties and other fees added to the valuation of the products they belong to, so stock value and margins show what the goods really cost.
Customer pricelists
Pricelists for specific customers, customer groups or periods, with price rules and discounts, used by sales orders and the web shop alike.
Replenishment and purchasing
Reordering rules with minimum and maximum quantities raise requests for quotation automatically. Blanket orders hold agreed vendor prices, and calls for tenders compare vendors.
B2B web shop and customer portal
Odoo eCommerce set up for trade buyers: tax-excluded prices, prices shown only to customers with an account and an assigned pricelist, and a portal for their own orders.
Lots, serials and dropshipping
Lot and serial numbers from receipt to delivery for recalls and expiry dates, and dropshipping for the lines your supplier ships straight to the customer.

Our Implementation Process
Process mapping
We map how an order moves today: price terms, warehouses, purchasing, how landed costs are booked and the channels orders arrive from.
Configuration
Warehouses and routes, pricelists, reordering rules, landed costs and the web shop set up in Odoo, with every Enterprise app agreed in writing.
Data migration and testing
Products, customers, vendors, pricelists and opening stock loaded, then a full purchase-to-pay and order-to-cash cycle tested with your team.
Training and go-live
Buyers, sales, warehouse and accounts staff trained, then a supported go-live, one warehouse at a time if you run several.

How to choose a provider
Questions worth asking when you choose wholesale distribution software and the team that implements it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Odoo handle customer-specific pricing for wholesale?
Yes. Odoo pricelists can apply to specific customers, customer groups, sales orders or time periods, with price rules and discounts. The same pricelist is used on sales orders and, if you sell online, in the eCommerce shop. Pricelists are part of Odoo Community.
Does Odoo calculate landed costs?
Yes. The Landed Costs feature in Odoo Inventory adds shipment, insurance, customs duties, taxes and other fees to the valuation of the products they relate to. It is part of Odoo Community, and we set up how each cost is split across the goods received.
Do you connect marketplaces, web shops and EDI?
Our Odoo app catalogue has store-management connectors for Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Faire, Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Magento, and each app page lists what that connector syncs. Odoo itself can import a purchase order from another Odoo database as a sales order, in the UBL format. EDI with a customer or supplier that uses another format is scoped as an integration project.
Do we need Odoo Enterprise for wholesale distribution?
Not always. Inventory, Purchase, Sales, eCommerce, pricelists, landed costs and Invoicing are in Odoo Community. Full Accounting, with bank reconciliation and financial reports, is an Enterprise app, and so are Barcode, Quality and inter-company transactions. We list the apps your processes need before you choose an edition.
What is the best software for wholesale distribution?
There is no single best one. For small and mid-sized distributors, Odoo covers multi-warehouse stock, landed costs, customer pricelists, purchasing and B2B eCommerce in one system. The right choice depends on your sales channels, how many companies you run and which Enterprise apps you need.
How long does a wholesale ERP implementation take?
A core rollout of sales, purchasing, inventory and accounting typically takes 8–12 weeks. A group of several companies, or one that trades between its companies, typically takes 4–6 months.
