What is Car Workshop Management for Odoo?

A build-to-order Odoo module that runs your complete vehicle workshop — job cards, technician labor, parts, inspections and reporting — engineered by ECOSIRE and installed on your database. Not an instant download; we scope, build, and support it. Built to order by ECOSIRE for Odoo 17, 18, 19 — indicative price from $999.00 USD; request a quote for a scoped proposal.

Key Features

Dedicated `workshop.job.card` model with an ORM-enforced state machine (draft → inspection → in_progress → quality_check → done → invoiced) rather than free-text status fields
Vehicle master record (VIN/chassis, plate, make/model/year, odometer, customer link) integrated with `fleet.vehicle` and full per-vehicle service history
Labor lines tracking technician (`hr.employee`/`res.users`), costed service product, and estimated-vs-actual hours via `@api.depends` compute fields
Parts issue tied to real `stock.move` reservations so on-hand inventory and valuation stay accurate — no phantom stock
One-click invoicing that posts a standard `account.move`, keeping parts and labor on Odoo's native accounting and tax engine
Multi-technician bay kanban board (OWL/XML views) for live bay utilization and drag-to-stage workflow
Vehicle inspection checklists captured against the job card, feeding the quality-check gate before a car is released
QWeb PDF job card, estimate, and gate-pass reports branded to your workshop
Service-reminder automated actions firing on odometer threshold or elapsed date, sending email/SMS from `ir.cron` + server actions
Row-level `ir.model.access.csv` and record rules scoping advisors, technicians, and managers to the data they should see
XML-RPC/JSON-RPC-exposed models so a booking website, portal, or messaging bot can create and query job cards
Margin and productivity compute fields (parts-vs-labor split, average repair value, technician efficiency) surfaced on the job card
Optional customer portal view of a vehicle's open job and approval of estimates before work proceeds
Built and tested against Odoo 17.0 / 18.0 / 19.0 with edition-aware wiring for Community vs Enterprise

About this Product

Auto repair and vehicle service businesses live and die on throughput per bay, accurate labor capture, and parts that leave the shelf only when they are actually billed. Out of the box, Odoo gives you Sales, Inventory, and to a degree Maintenance, but none of those speak the language of a workshop: there is no first-class vehicle record tying a customer to a VIN, plate, make/model and service history; a repair order is not a native concept that flows from booking to inspection to labor lines to parts issue to invoice; and technician time on a specific job is not something Odoo core captures against a costed labor rate. Teams end up bolting the process onto Sales Orders and spreadsheets, and the reporting — bay utilization, mechanic productivity, average repair value, parts-vs-labor margin — simply is not there.

Car Workshop is the domain layer ECOSIRE builds on top of your existing Odoo so the workshop becomes a native part of the ERP rather than an afterthought. At the model level we introduce a fleet.vehicle-aware vehicle record and a dedicated workshop.job.card model (models.Model) with a proper state machine — draft → inspection → in_progress → quality_check → done → invoiced — driven by ORM methods rather than manual status fields. Labor lines carry a technician (res.users/hr.employee), a costed product.product of type service, and @api.depends compute fields that roll estimated vs actual hours and margin up to the job card. Parts lines reserve and issue against real stock.moves so inventory stays truthful, and a one-click action posts the account.move invoice through Odoo's standard accounting. Everything is exposed through OWL/XML views, a technician-friendly kanban of the bays, and QWeb job-card and gate-pass PDFs branded to your shop.

Because it is written as a real Odoo module, it inherits the platform's strengths instead of fighting them: access is governed by ir.model.access.csv plus record rules (a service advisor sees their bookings, a technician sees only assigned jobs, the manager sees the whole shop), automated actions can fire service-reminder emails or SMS from an odometer or date trigger, and every model is reachable over the XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API so a booking website, a WhatsApp bot, or a customer portal can create and read job cards programmatically. We build against your edition — Community or Enterprise — and target Odoo 17.0, 18.0 or 19.0, noting where Enterprise-only features (like the native Field Service or advanced accounting) change what we wire versus reimplement in Community.

Delivery is build-to-order and deliberately transparent. After a short scoping call we confirm the exact model fields, states, security matrix, reports and any integrations, then produce a fixed written quotation. We develop on a staging copy of your database, run UAT with your team, and only then install on production with a rollback plan and a git repository handover. Typical delivery is one working week from confirmed scope. Pricing starts from $999 (indicative, single-company base scope); multi-company/multi-branch rollout, deeper localization, external integrations (booking site, payment, SMS/WhatsApp gateways), and migration of historical vehicle and service-history data increase the quoted scope. There is no instant download here — you are commissioning a module we design, build, install and support.

What you get

  • Installable source code for your build-to-order version of the module, packaged with a versioned `__manifest__.py` targeting your Odoo release
  • Installation and configuration on your environment (staging then production), including security groups, record rules, and report setup
  • Technical documentation: model/field reference, state machine, access matrix, and integration/API notes
  • End-user guide plus a live training session for service advisors, technicians, and managers
  • Post-go-live support window for defect fixes and questions against the delivered scope
  • UAT on a staging copy of your database with a signed-off test plan and a documented rollback procedure
  • Git repository handover with full commit history so your team or another vendor can maintain it
  • Seed/demo data and configuration checklist so a fresh environment can be stood up quickly

Who this is for

Independent auto repair shop owner

Runs Odoo (or is moving to it) and needs bookings, job cards, parts, labor and invoicing in one place instead of a whiteboard and spreadsheets. Wants accurate margin per repair and reminders that bring cars back.

Multi-branch service center operations manager

Oversees several bays or locations on one Odoo database and needs bay utilization, technician productivity, and consistent workflow with branch-level record rules and consolidated reporting.

Odoo partner or in-house ERP team

Wants a clean, maintainable workshop domain module — proper models, security, QWeb reports and an API surface — delivered with a git repo they can extend, rather than building the whole vertical from scratch.

Fleet-servicing / dealership aftersales lead

Services owned or customer fleets and needs vehicle-centric history, odometer-based service reminders, inspection checklists, and gate-pass documents tied into Odoo accounting.

Frequently Asked Questions about Car Workshop Management

Is this an app I can download and install right now?

No. Car Workshop is build-to-order: ECOSIRE designs, builds, installs and supports a version tailored to your Odoo database. It is not an existing apps.odoo.com download. You start by requesting a quotation, we scope it with you, then we build and deploy it.

How long does delivery take?

Typical delivery is one working week from confirmed scope. After a scoping call we lock the models, states, security, reports and integrations in a written quotation; the clock starts when you approve that scope. Larger multi-branch or integration-heavy builds sit at the upper end or are staged in phases.

How does pricing and scoping work?

Pricing starts from $999 as an indicative from-price for a single-company base scope. After the scoping call we send a fixed written quotation for your exact requirements. Multi-company/branch rollout, localization depth, external integrations (booking site, SMS/WhatsApp, payments), and historical data migration increase the quoted scope. You approve a fixed number before we build — no open-ended billing.

Which Odoo versions and editions do you support?

We build for Odoo 17.0, 18.0 and 19.0, on both Community and Enterprise. During scoping we note where Enterprise-only features (such as native Field Service or advanced accounting) change whether we integrate an existing capability or reimplement it for Community, so the quote reflects your edition.

What about support and updates after go-live?

Every build includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and questions against the delivered scope. Because you receive the full git repository, your team or another partner can maintain it. Version upgrades (e.g. moving to a newer Odoo release) and new feature requests are quoted separately as ongoing engagements.

Will it interfere with our existing Odoo data or modules?

No. We develop on a staging copy of your database, run UAT with your team, and install on production only after sign-off, with a documented rollback plan. Parts and invoicing use Odoo's native `stock` and `account` engines, so inventory valuation and accounting stay consistent with the rest of your ERP.

Can it integrate with a booking website or messaging channel?

Yes. Every model is reachable over Odoo's XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API, so a booking website, customer portal, or WhatsApp/SMS bot can create and read job cards. These integrations are scoped and quoted as part of your build rather than assumed by default.
