Most finance teams running ERPNext end up living in exported spreadsheets. Native reports like the Trial Balance, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable Summary and Cash Flow are accurate but static — they answer one question at a time, can't be pinned side by side, and don't refresh on a schedule or fan out by email. The moment a CFO wants a single board showing AR ageing, DSO trend, P&L variance and consolidated cash position across companies and currencies, ERPNext's built-in Report Builder and Query Report tooling runs out of road, and the usual fallback is a costly external BI stack (Power BI, Metabase) that duplicates your data and drifts out of sync with the ledger.
Finance Analytics & BI is a proper Frappe app that ECOSIRE builds to your chart of accounts and reporting calendar, installed directly into your ERPNext v15/v16 bench. It ships a Finance Analytics workspace with pre-built dashboards for AR/AP ageing, cash flow, and P&L, plus a self-service chart and report builder your controllers use without writing Python. Under the hood we model the analytics layer as first-class DocTypes (for example Finance Dashboard, Finance KPI and Finance Report Schedule) so every view is versioned, permissioned and portable across environments — not a pile of ad-hoc SQL trapped in one user's account.
The numbers are read straight from GL Entry, Sales Invoice, Purchase Invoice and Payment Entry, so figures always reconcile to the ledger. KPI tiles drill down: click a receivables balance and you land on the underlying GL Entry rows filtered to that customer and period. Aggregations run through whitelisted server-side methods and Query Reports rather than raw client queries, with server-side caching so large ledgers stay responsive. hooks.py scheduler events (daily, hourly) refresh materialised KPI snapshots and dispatch scheduled PDF/Excel reports to finance distribution lists via Frappe's email queue. Client scripts add the interactive drill-down and filter behaviour on the dashboard pages, and everything is exposed over the Frappe REST API and whitelisted methods so the same figures can feed a board pack or an external tool if you ever need one.
Access is governed by Frappe's permission model and role profiles — a Finance Analyst sees only the companies and cost centers you grant, and consolidated multi-company, multi-currency views respect each user's company permissions. Currency conversion uses your configured exchange rates so group roll-ups present in your reporting currency without touching transactional data.
Because this is build-to-order, nothing is a black box. We start with a scoping call to map your COA, dimensions, target KPIs and the specific dashboards you need, then build against a staging copy of your data, run UAT with your finance team, and cut over on a scheduled window with a rollback plan. Typical delivery is 2-4 weeks from confirmed scope. You receive the full app source in a Git repository, deployment on your bench, technical and user documentation, a training session, and a post-go-live support window — you own the code and can extend it yourself or have us maintain it.
Wants a single live board of AR ageing, DSO, cash position and P&L variance across every company, in the reporting currency, without waiting on month-end exports or maintaining a separate BI stack.
Needs to build and tweak charts and reports self-service, schedule them to stakeholders, and drill from a KPI down to the exact GL entries when someone questions a number.
Manages several ERPNext companies and currencies and needs consolidated views that respect each entity's permissions and convert correctly for group reporting.
Responsible for the bench and wants analytics delivered as a clean, versioned Frappe app with proper DocTypes, role profiles and scheduler jobs — not brittle ad-hoc SQL or a bolt-on external tool.
| Criterion | ECOSIRE | Custom Build | Competitor | ERPNext Native |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fit to your chart of accounts | Built to your COA, dimensions and KPIs during scoping | Fully bespoke but you spec everything from zero | Generic dashboards you bend to fit | Standard reports, no custom KPI boards |
| Delivery time | 2-4 weeks from confirmed scope | Months of in-house development | Instant install but generic | Available today, limited scope |
| Drill-down to GL Entry | KPI tile drills straight to filtered GL rows | Only if you build it | Usually summary-only, no ledger link | Report-by-report, no cross-KPI drill |
| Scheduled report delivery | hooks.py scheduler + email queue, PDF/Excel | You build the scheduler and templates | Sometimes, often add-on priced | Manual export and send |
| Multi-company / multi-currency | Consolidated views honouring permissions and FX rates | Depends on effort invested | Often single-company oriented | Per-company reports, manual consolidation |
| Code ownership | Full Frappe app source in a Git repo you own | You own it, at full build cost | Vendor-locked, closed source | Core code, not extendable for BI |
| Architecture | First-class DocTypes, whitelisted methods, role profiles | As good as your team makes it | Bolt-on, varying quality | Query/Report Builder only |
| Support and updates | Post-go-live window + optional ongoing support | You maintain it | Vendor SLA, generic roadmap | Community/ERPNext releases |
This is a build-to-order product, not an instant download. After a scoping call to confirm your chart of accounts, dimensions and target dashboards, typical delivery is 2-4 weeks from confirmed scope, including build, UAT on staging and cutover.
ERPNext's Trial Balance, General Ledger and AR/AP reports are accurate but static and single-question. This app gives you persistent multi-KPI dashboards, a self-service chart/report builder, scheduled email delivery, drill-down to GL Entry, and consolidated multi-company/currency views — modelled as proper DocTypes rather than one-off reports.
No. The analytics run inside ERPNext against your live ledger via whitelisted server methods and Query Reports, so figures always reconcile and there is no separate data warehouse to sync. If you later want to feed an external tool, the same aggregations are available over the Frappe REST API.
We build and test against Frappe/ERPNext v15 and v16, packaged as a standard installable Frappe app on your bench. If you are on an earlier version we will confirm compatibility or scope an upgrade during the scoping call.
Access uses Frappe's native permission model and role profiles. A Finance Analyst role can be restricted to specific companies, cost centers and dashboards, and consolidated views only surface entities the user is permitted to see. Currency roll-ups use your configured exchange rates.
Every build includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration changes. Because you receive the full source in a Git repository, you can maintain and extend it yourself, or contract ECOSIRE for ongoing support and enhancements. We keep the app aligned with your ERPNext version during the support window.
Yes. Aggregations are computed from GL Entry, Sales Invoice, Purchase Invoice and Payment Entry rather than a copied dataset, so every KPI ties back to the ledger and drill-down lands on the actual GL rows behind the figure.
