The plugin registers a protection fee via the woocommerce_cart_calculate_fees hook, driven by a configurable rule engine (flat fee, percentage of cart subtotal, or banded tiers). The opt-in toggle renders on the checkout block / shortcode checkout and persists into order meta on HPOS (High-Performance Order Storage) custom order tables, so it survives reporting and exports. A self-service claims portal lives under a [ecosire_claims] shortcode or a My Account endpoint, where customers submit lost/damaged claims with photo evidence stored as a custom post type.

On approval, an admin action triggers automatic remediation — either a duplicate replacement order created through the WooCommerce data store, or a refund issued via the WooCommerce REST API / WC_Order_Refund against the original gateway. A revenue-share report in wp-admin reconciles premiums collected against claims paid, so you always know the program's net contribution. Everything is built around standard WordPress actions, filters, and WP-Cron for claim SLAs and reminder emails, and is WPML- and multisite-aware on request.
