A rooftop or ground-mount job is not a simple product sale: it carries a site survey with roof orientation and shading factors, a system design measured in kWp with panel/inverter/battery bills of materials, a permit-and-interconnection paper trail, staged installation milestones, and warranty obligations that outlive the invoice by 10-25 years. A new install-project model (models.Model, bridging crm.lead, sale.order, and project.project) captures site data, system size, and equipment configuration, with @api.depends compute fields that roll a selected panel count and module wattage up into total kWp and estimated annual generation. Equipment is modeled on product.template/product.product with solar-specific attributes (module wattage, cell technology, inverter phase, battery chemistry) and serial-tracked stock.lot records, so every panel and inverter installed on a roof is traceable back to a specific site, customer, and warranty clock. Everything ships as a proper Odoo addon — a versioned __manifest__.py, ORM models, security/ir.model.access.csv plus record rules for installer/surveyor/manager roles, backend views (XML with OWL where the UX warrants it), automated actions for milestone-driven follow-ups, and QWeb PDF reports for the survey sheet, system proposal, and commissioning certificate.

Because it is built on native Odoo objects, the module inherits the platform you already run: multi-company, the sale/stock/account chain, Studio-safe extension points, and the XML-RPC / JSON-RPC API so a customer portal, monitoring platform, or field-service app can read and write solar records programmatically.
