The Vertex Tax Engine Connector for Magento 2 replaces Magento's native tax tables and rules with real-time tax determination from the Vertex O Series engine (Vertex Cloud REST API or on-premise O Series). It is built as a proper Magento module under app/code/Ecosire/VertexTax, registered via registration.php and a versioned composer package, and wired through di.xml so it slots cleanly into Adobe Commerce or Magento Open Source 2.4.x.
This is an honest build-to-order engagement, not an instant Marketplace download. ECOSIRE builds the extension against your Vertex account, taxability mapping, and store hierarchy, then installs and configures it on your environment. Calculation hooks in through a plugin (interceptor) on Magento\Tax\Model\Sales\Total\Quote\Tax and a custom tax calculator, so quote totals, multi-shipping, and creditmemo reflect Vertex line-by-line results. An observer on sales_order_invoice_register posts committed invoices to Vertex for reporting; cancellations and refunds reverse them. What is the delivery lead time?

What support and updates are included after launch?
The build includes two weeks of go-live support for defects and configuration adjustments. After that, an optional maintenance plan covers compatibility with Magento 2.4.x patch releases, Vertex API changes, and enhancement requests. Vertex-side rate and rule updates are handled automatically by the Vertex engine itself, so those never require a code change.
Do I need a Vertex subscription, and is it included in the $999?
Yes, you need an active Vertex account (Vertex Cloud or on-premise O Series) — it is the tax engine the connector calls. The Vertex subscription is billed separately by Vertex and is not included. The $999 is a one-time build fee for the Magento integration: the module, installation, configuration, UAT, and handover.
Will it work with my headless / PWA or GraphQL checkout?
Yes. The connector hooks calculation at the quote total-collection layer and returns results through Magento's standard service contracts, so REST and GraphQL checkout receive Vertex-calculated totals the same way the Luma frontend does. If you run Adobe Commerce PWA Studio or a custom headless front end, we validate the GraphQL totals during UAT.
Does it override Magento core or break upgrades?
No core files are overridden. The module uses di.xml plugins (interceptors) on the tax total model and a custom calculator, observers on invoice and credit-memo events, and standard admin config with an ACL resource. This keeps it upgrade-safe across Magento 2.4.x patch releases — exactly the pattern that survives setup:upgrade and di:compile cleanly.
