EU VAT Enhanced (VIES Validation) for Magento 2 is a build-to-order extension that ECOSIRE designs, codes, installs and supports directly on your Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce store. It is not an instant Adobe Commerce Marketplace download — we deliver a versioned module under app/code/Ecosire/EuVatEnhanced, wire it into your existing tax configuration, and hand it over working.

The module validates buyer VAT IDs in real time against the EU VIES SOAP service and UK numbers against the HMRC VAT API, both at the storefront (a checkout/customer-account field with inline AJAX feedback) and in the Magento admin. When VIES or HMRC is unreachable, a configurable offline syntactic check (country-prefix + checksum rules) keeps checkout moving instead of blocking the sale.

On a successful cross-border B2B validation, the extension automatically reassigns the customer tax class so a valid intra-community B2B order is zero-rated, while B2C and invalid IDs fall back to your standard rate. This is implemented with proper Magento patterns — a plugin (interceptor) on the tax-class resolution flow, observers on customer_save_after and checkout events, and a dedicated service contract for validation so the logic is reusable from REST, GraphQL and cron.

It also tracks your EU distance-selling / OSS delivery thresholds per destination country, with currency conversion against your configured rates, and flags or switches treatment as a customer approaches the threshold. Every validation is logged for audit, and all admin screens are protected by granular ACL resources.
