Multi-Entity Consolidation & Close Manager nedir?

A NetSuite SuiteScript 2.1 application for intercompany elimination, currency translation review and a controlled month-end close checklist. Built to order for your subsidiary hierarchy after a scoping call and fixed quote. Built to order by ECOSIRE for Oracle NetSuite (build-to-order) — indicative price from $1499.00 USD; request a quote for a scoped proposal.

Multi-Entity Consolidation & Close Manager — A NetSuite SuiteScript 2

What we build

  • Map/Reduce intercompany matching across the subsidiary hierarchy, pairing by counterparty, document reference, amount, and period with a configurable tolerance
  • Exception records for every unmatched item, typed by reason — missing counterparty entry, amount variance, period mismatch, currency mismatch, or unmapped intercompany account
  • Automated elimination Journal Entries against your elimination subsidiary and mapped accounts, covering intercompany AR and AP, revenue and cost, loans and interest
  • Unrealised profit on inventory elimination for goods transferred between subsidiaries, using the margin basis and item categories you define
  • Bidirectional drill-through: every elimination line links back to the matched pair and both source transactions
  • Translation workpaper per account showing local balance, rate type, rate applied, translated amount, and cumulative translation adjustment movement against the prior period
  • Historical-rate register holding fixed rates for share capital, pre-acquisition reserves, and any account you designate, applied automatically at consolidation
  • Validation script that flags balance sheet accounts on average rates, missing period rates, functional currency changes, and eliminations posted in the wrong currency
  • Close checklist custom records with owner role, subsidiary, workstream, dependency chain, due offset from period end, and required evidence attachments
  • Scheduled script that instantiates the full checklist for each accounting period from a reusable template, with separate preparer and reviewer sign-off enforced by roles and permissions
  • Period-lock action that refuses to close an accounting period until every mandatory task for that period is signed off, plus overdue notification and escalation to the workstream lead
  • Saved searches, SuiteAnalytics datasets, and a role-secured RESTlet exposing consolidated trial balance with elimination column, intercompany matrix, translation workpaper, and live close status

Bu Ürün Hakkında

The problem

A multi-subsidiary NetSuite close usually runs on a spreadsheet and a group chat. Someone maintains a tab of tasks with owners and due dates. Someone else emails the local controllers asking whether the intercompany balances agree. A third person exports the trial balance, checks the cumulative translation adjustment, and tries to work out why the consolidated balance sheet is out by a few thousand. None of that lives in NetSuite, so none of it is evidence.

The pain concentrates in three places. Intercompany balances that do not agree between the two sides. Currency translation that nobody can explain line by line. And a close checklist where the true status is whatever the last person to update the spreadsheet believed. Every one of those is solvable with records and scripts sitting on top of the data NetSuite already holds.

What ECOSIRE builds

We build this as custom records, saved searches, and SuiteScript 2.1 scripts deployed into your account as an unmanaged bundle or SDF project. You own the source.

Intercompany matching and elimination

A Map/Reduce script reads transactions and GL impact across your subsidiary hierarchy, pairs them by intercompany counterparty, document reference, and amount, and writes a match record for each pair. Anything unmatched lands on an exception record with the reason — no counterparty entry, amount mismatch beyond tolerance, wrong period, wrong currency, or missing intercompany account mapping.

Matched pairs feed an elimination run. The script generates the elimination journal entries against your elimination subsidiary and mapped elimination accounts, handling intercompany receivables and payables, intercompany revenue and cost, intercompany loans and interest, and unrealised profit on inventory transferred between entities where you provide the margin basis. Every posted elimination line carries a link back to the source pair, so a reviewer can click from the consolidated adjustment to the two original transactions.

A reconciliation dashboard shows each subsidiary pair, the balance each side reports, the difference, and the ageing of any unresolved exception.

Currency translation review

NetSuite performs consolidation using its own rate types. What teams lack is a readable explanation of the result. We build a translation workpaper: per account, the local currency balance, the rate type applied, the rate used, the translated amount, and the movement in the cumulative translation adjustment for the period, with the prior period alongside. Historical-rate accounts — share capital, pre-acquisition reserves, and any account you designate — are held at their fixed rates on a dedicated record rather than in someone's memory.

A validation script flags the classic causes of an out-of-balance consolidation: a balance sheet account translated at an average rate, a missing rate for a period, a subsidiary whose functional currency changed, or an elimination posted in the wrong currency.

Close checklist and task control

A close task record models each step: name, owner role, subsidiary, dependency on other tasks, due offset from period end, expected duration, and the evidence required to complete it. A Scheduled script instantiates the whole checklist for each accounting period from a template, so nobody rebuilds it every month.

Tasks support attachments, sign-off with the user and timestamp captured, reopening with a reason, and a hard dependency rule — a task cannot be signed off while its predecessors are open. Reviewer sign-off is separate from preparer sign-off where you want segregation of duties, enforced by roles and permissions.

A close status dashboard shows, per subsidiary and per workstream, what is complete, what is late, what is blocked, and who owns it. Overdue tasks trigger notification to the owner and escalation to the workstream lead. A period-lock action refuses to run until every mandatory task in that period is signed off, which turns the checklist into a control rather than a tracker.

Consolidated reporting

Saved searches and datasets deliver the consolidated trial balance with an elimination column, the intercompany matrix, the translation workpaper, the close status report, and a period-over-period bridge. Where you want the checklist visible outside NetSuite, a RESTlet exposes read-only close status for a reporting tool or an internal portal, secured by role.

Who this is for

Groups running NetSuite OneWorld with more than one subsidiary, particularly where those subsidiaries transact with each other, report in different functional currencies, or sit under a controller who has to certify the group numbers on a deadline. It fits shared service centres, private-equity-backed groups with frequent acquisitions, and any finance team whose close is measured in days rather than hours.

How delivery works

This is a build-to-order application. It is not a finished product waiting to be downloaded; we build your instance of it.

1. Scoping call. We map your subsidiary hierarchy, functional currencies, elimination subsidiary and accounts, intercompany transaction types, close calendar, workstreams, and who signs off what. 2. Fixed quote. You get a written scope, an object list, and a fixed price before any build begins. 3. Build. Typical lead time is one working week, longer for deep hierarchies with many intercompany transaction types or unrealised profit elimination. 4. Install in your sandbox. We deploy to your sandbox, run a real historic period end to end, and reconcile our elimination and translation output against the close you already completed for that period. 5. Production. After sandbox sign-off we deploy to production and run the first live close in parallel with your existing spreadsheet, retiring it only once the two agree. 6. Support. A defined post-go-live support window covers defect fixes and configuration questions, extendable if you add subsidiaries later.

Source, SDF project, and object definitions are handed over. Adding a subsidiary or a new elimination account later is configuration you can do yourself.

How delivery works

  1. 1

    Scoping call

A short call to confirm the workflow, your platform version and where the integration boundaries sit.

  2. 2

    Fixed quote

You receive a written scope and a fixed price. Nothing is built until you approve it.

  3. 3

    Build and test

We develop against a copy of your configuration and test it there. Typically two to four weeks.

  4. 4

    Install and support

Sisteminize kurulumu yapar ve kaynak kodunu teslim ederiz; canlıya geçiş sonrası iki hafta destek dahildir. Teslim ettiğimiz koddaki hatalar ücretsiz düzeltilir.

Bu kimin için

Group Controller

Signs off consolidated numbers on a fixed deadline while chasing subsidiary controllers for status by email. A dependency-aware checklist with enforced sign-off and a period-lock gate replaces the chase with a dashboard that shows exactly what is blocking the close.

Consolidation Accountant

Spends the first days of every close reconciling intercompany balances that do not agree and explaining a cumulative translation adjustment nobody can trace. Automated matching with typed exceptions and a per-account translation workpaper turn both into a review task instead of an investigation.

Subsidiary Finance Manager

Receives close instructions in a spreadsheet and has no visibility of how their entity's submission affects the group. Task records assigned to their role, with the evidence they must attach and the deadline calculated from period end, make their obligations explicit and their completion evidenced.

Sık sorulan sorular

How long does it take to get this?
one working week from accepted quote in most cases. It is built to order — there is no instant download. Deep subsidiary hierarchies, many intercompany transaction types, or unrealised profit elimination on inventory push it toward the upper end, and we tell you which bracket you are in at quoting time, not afterwards.
Which NetSuite editions and versions does this support?
It requires NetSuite OneWorld, since the whole application is built around subsidiaries, consolidated exchange rates, and an elimination subsidiary. It is written in SuiteScript 2.1 against currently supported NetSuite releases. During scoping we confirm your account edition, enabled features, functional currencies, and existing elimination setup.
Does this replace NetSuite's own consolidation?
No, and it should not. NetSuite still performs consolidation and applies its rate types. This adds the layer teams build in spreadsheets on top: intercompany matching with typed exceptions, generated elimination entries with drill-through, a readable translation workpaper, and a controlled close checklist. The consolidated output stays NetSuite's.
What happens to intercompany items that do not match?
They become exception records rather than being silently ignored or force-balanced. Each carries a reason code, both sides of the balance where they exist, an owner, and an age. Nothing is eliminated on an unmatched pair without an explicit decision, and that decision is recorded against the exception.
Can we change the close checklist ourselves after go-live?
Yes. The checklist is a template of custom records, not hard-coded logic. Adding a task, changing an owner role, adjusting a due offset, or introducing a new workstream is configuration. We cover this in training and document it, and adding a new subsidiary follows the same path.
How do we know the eliminations are right before we rely on them?
We run a real historic period in your sandbox and reconcile our output against the close you already completed and signed off for that period. Differences are investigated and resolved before production deployment, and the first live close runs in parallel with your existing process until you are satisfied.
