ECOSIRE builds this as a per-tenant AL extension installed directly on your Business Central environment (cloud SaaS or on-prem). It uses table and page extensions to attach an interaction timeline to Contact, Customer, and Sales Quote/Opportunity records, event subscribers to log activity, and the BC REST/OData v4 API plus a Microsoft Graph connection to pull mail and calendar data. Outbound 1:1 emails are stamped with a tracking pixel and link-wrapping so opens and clicks post back to the contact timeline. A Job Queue entry runs the periodic Graph sync so capture keeps working even when reps forget.
Because this is a custom Dynamics 365 CE / Dataverse-adjacent flow, ECOSIRE wires the capture rules, permission sets, and field mappings to your sales process rather than a generic template. Where you run Dynamics 365 Sales (CE) on Dataverse, we integrate via the Power Platform connector and server-side sync; where you run Business Central, we keep everything native in AL.

How long until it is live, and how is it delivered?
This is build-to-order, not an instant AppSource install. After a short scoping call we typically build, sandbox-test, and install the extension within 2 to 4 weeks depending on whether you run Business Central, Dynamics 365 Sales (CE) on Dataverse, and how custom your capture rules are. ECOSIRE installs it as a per-tenant AL extension on your sandbox first, validates capture and tracking, then promotes to production.
What ongoing support and updates are included?
The $299 is a one-time build. ECOSIRE supports the installed extension and is on hand for the Microsoft Graph configuration and Business Central platform updates (the bi-annual major releases) that can affect API behavior. Functional changes, new mappings, additional automation, or version-compatibility maintenance are quoted as a small support retainer or per-change so you only pay for what you need.
Does this work with Gmail as well as Outlook?
Yes. Outlook capture and the side-panel use Microsoft Graph and the Microsoft 365 add-in model natively. Gmail capture is handled through a connected mailbox configuration plus a BCC-to-capture address so sent and received mail still reaches the Dynamics 365 timeline. We confirm your exact mail setup during scoping.
Will it modify my base Business Central application or break on upgrades?
No. It is delivered as a separate per-tenant extension using table extensions, page extensions, and event subscribers, so base application objects are never edited. This is the Microsoft-recommended pattern and is the most upgrade-safe approach, though every major BC release should still be validated in sandbox first, which ECOSIRE assists with.
Can the captured email engagement data feed Power BI or other reports?
Yes. The extension exposes the interaction and tracking data through the Business Central REST/OData v4 API, so you can build Power BI dashboards on open rates, click rates, and per-opportunity activity. For Dataverse-based Dynamics 365 Sales, the data is also available to Power Platform reporting.
