Dental clinics run on tooth-level detail that generic clinic and appointment software simply does not model. Odoo's stock calendar and appointment apps can book a slot and sale/account can raise an invoice, but there is no concept of a tooth, a surface, a periodontal reading, or a phased treatment plan that a hygienist starts today and a prosthodontist finishes across three visits. Front desks end up tracking recalls in spreadsheets, dentists re-explain the same case every visit, and insurance pre-authorizations get lost between the operatory and the billing desk. This is where native Odoo runs out of road for a real dental practice.
Interactive dental chart as an OWL component backed by `dental.tooth` / `dental.tooth.condition` models, storing findings per tooth
FDI and Universal tooth-numbering support, with surface-level (M/O/D/B/L) conditions where clinically relevant
`dental.treatment.plan` with sequenced `dental.treatment.plan.line` records carrying phase, procedure and status
Estimated plan cost computed via `@api.depends` from a configurable procedure price list, recalculated on line changes
Chair/operatory scheduling by extending the resource model so operatories are bookable, double-booking-safe resources
Appointment allocation to a specific chair and dentist, integrated with Odoo's calendar and appointment views
ECOSIRE builds a dedicated dental layer as a proper Odoo module with its own __manifest__.py, models, security and views. At its core is an interactive dental chart implemented as an OWL component backed by dental.tooth and dental.tooth.condition models, using the FDI/Universal numbering system so every finding is stored per tooth — and per surface where clinically relevant — rather than as free text. Treatment is modeled as dental.treatment.plan with sequenced dental.treatment.plan.line procedures, each carrying a phase, an estimated cost computed via @api.depends from your procedure price list, and a status that moves from proposed to accepted to completed. Because procedures are real Odoo records, an accepted plan line can generate a chair booking and, on completion, flow straight into account.move for procedure-based billing.
Scheduling is chair-aware: we extend the resource model so operatories are bookable resources, letting the front desk allocate an appointment to a specific chair and dentist without double-booking. Recall and follow-up reminders run on Odoo's scheduler (ir.cron) plus automated actions (base.automation), generating activities or SMS/email at the intervals your practice defines — six-month hygiene recalls, post-op check-ins, or overdue-treatment nudges. Insurance pre-authorization is modeled as its own state machine on the treatment plan so a procedure cannot be billed as covered until its pre-auth is approved, and every clinical note, chart change and status transition is written to the standard mail.thread chatter for a full audit trail. QWeb reports produce the printed treatment estimate, the signed consent form and the per-tooth clinical summary; the whole model is reachable over Odoo's XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API if you need to feed a patient portal or imaging bridge.
Access is locked down with ir.model.access.csv and record rules so a receptionist, hygienist and dentist each see the right slice of the chart, and multi-clinic groups get per-branch record rules out of the box. Everything is built and tested against Odoo 17.0, 18.0 and 19.0, and we are explicit about Community vs Enterprise: the module targets Community and layers cleanly on top of Enterprise where you already run it, so we scope to whichever edition you license rather than assuming Enterprise-only apps.
This is build-to-order, not an instant download. After a short scoping call we confirm your tooth-numbering standard, procedure catalog, insurance rules and recall cadence, then build, install and hand over the module — typically 2 to 4 weeks from confirmed scope. You receive the installable source for your Odoo version, UAT on a staging database with a rollback plan, documentation and a training session, plus a post-go-live support window. No fabricated download claims, no generic clinic app pretending to be dental software — a module built for how your practice actually charts teeth.
A single-location practice outgrowing spreadsheets and generic appointment tools, needing real per-tooth charting, treatment estimates patients actually accept, and automated six-month recalls without hiring a full-time coordinator.
Runs several clinics and needs per-branch record rules, consolidated reporting, and consistent treatment-plan and pre-authorization workflows across every chair and dentist in the group.
Owns scheduling and insurance, and needs chair-aware booking, pre-auth gating before covered billing, and reliable recall reminders so no revenue slips through the gaps between visits.
A business running Odoo for accounting or inventory that wants dentistry modeled natively — treatment plans flowing into `account.move`, chart data reachable over JSON-RPC — instead of bolting on a disconnected dental system.

| Critère | ÉCOSIRE | Construction personnalisée | Concurrent | Odoo natif |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Per-tooth charting | Interactive OWL dental chart, FDI/Universal, surface-level conditions | Possible but you design the model and UI from scratch | Often a basic chart image or per-visit notes, not per-tooth records | |
| Phased treatment plans | `dental.treatment.plan` with sequenced lines, phases and computed estimates | Buildable, but planning and cost logic are your responsibility | Basic plan lists, limited phasing or estimate automation | |
| Chair/operatory scheduling | Operatories as bookable resources, double-booking-safe, chair + dentist | Requires extending the resource/calendar models yourself | Room booking sometimes present, rarely chair-and-dentist aware | |
| Recall reminders | `ir.cron` + automated actions with configurable cadences per procedure | Cron and automation logic must be written and tested by you | Generic reminders, limited dental-specific recall rules | |
| Insurance pre-authorization | State machine gating covered billing until pre-auth approved | Full workflow design and billing gates fall to you | Often absent or a simple checkbox with no billing gate | |
| Odoo version support | Built and tested for 17.0, 18.0 and 19.0, Community or Enterprise | Depends entirely on your team and testing coverage | Version support varies; upgrades may lag or break | |
| Ownership & handover | Full source, git repo, tagged release, docs and training | You own it but carry all build cost and risk | Licensed app; source and roadmap controlled by the vendor | |
| Time & effort to go live | Scoped, built and UAT'd in ~2-4 weeks from confirmed scope | Months of in-house design, build and testing | Fast to install but heavy configuration and workarounds |
This is a build-to-order module, so there is no instant download. After a short scoping call to confirm your tooth-numbering standard, procedure catalog, insurance rules and recall cadence, typical delivery is 2 to 4 weeks from confirmed scope. Tighter or broader timelines depend on the number of custom workflows and integrations you need.
We build and test against Odoo 17.0, 18.0 and 19.0. The module targets Community and layers cleanly onto Enterprise where you already run it. We scope to whichever edition you license rather than assuming Enterprise-only apps, and we confirm your exact version before the build starts.
Every engagement includes a post-go-live support window for bug fixes and clarifications. You receive the git repository with tagged releases, so future version upgrades or feature additions can be quoted as follow-on work. Because you own the source, you are never locked to us for maintenance.
Yes. Findings are stored on `dental.tooth` / `dental.tooth.condition` records per tooth, with surface-level conditions where clinically relevant, using the FDI or Universal numbering system you choose. Treatment lines reference specific teeth and surfaces, so estimates and clinical notes are anchored to the actual tooth rather than free text.
Pre-authorization is modeled as a state machine on the treatment plan. A procedure flagged as insurance-covered cannot be billed as covered until its pre-auth reaches the approved state, and every transition is logged to the chatter audit trail. We configure the states and approval steps to match your payers during scoping.
Yes. Completed treatment lines flow into standard `account.move` invoices, scheduling uses Odoo's resource and calendar models, and every model is reachable over Odoo's XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API — so you can feed a patient portal, imaging bridge or reporting tool. We scope any specific integration explicitly rather than promising black-box connectors.
Yes. You receive the full installable source and a git repository handover with commit history and a tagged release for your version. You can self-host on your own Odoo, and nothing in the module phones home or requires an ECOSIRE-hosted service to run.
