Cash-on-delivery is your highest-converting payment method and your biggest leak. Fake numbers, joke orders, and serial returners drive your RTO (return-to-origin) rate up while you eat reverse shipping, packaging, and restocking costs. COD OTP & Fraud Verification closes that gap by forcing every COD order to prove a working phone before it ever reaches your packing table.
This is a build-to-order Shopify app — ECOSIRE builds it against your exact theme, SMS provider, and fulfillment flow, then installs and configures it on your store. It is not an instant App Store download. After you order, we scope your requirements, develop, deploy via Shopify OAuth as a custom app, and hand you a working system with documentation.
What it does: When a shopper places a COD order, the app fires an SMS OTP to the entered number; the order is only confirmed once the code is validated. A CAPTCHA challenge blocks bots at checkout or on a post-purchase verification page. A risk-scoring engine evaluates each order against signals you choose — repeat fake numbers, mismatched address/phone, prior RTO history, blocklists — and flags or auto-holds high-risk orders. Unverified orders can be auto-cancelled or tagged for manual review after a configurable window.
Technically, it integrates through the Admin GraphQL API and order webhooks (orders/create, orders/updated), writes verification state to order metafields and tags, and respects multi-location inventory so nothing is held against stock until an order clears. Your team works entirely inside the familiar Shopify Admin — flagged orders, OTP status, and risk scores show up where you already manage fulfillment. How long until the app is live on my store?
Because this is built to order, there is a lead time — it is not an instant install. After your purchase we confirm requirements (your SMS provider, target countries, risk rules, and verification flow), then build, test, and deploy. A standard configuration typically takes a few business days to two weeks depending on complexity, custom risk logic, and SMS-provider setup. We give you a firm timeline once scope is confirmed.
Do you provide ongoing support and updates after launch?
Yes. Every build includes a post-launch support and warranty window for bug fixes and for keeping the app compatible with Shopify Admin GraphQL API and webhook changes. After that period, ongoing support, new rules, and feature additions are available as a maintenance arrangement. ECOSIRE Private Limited builds and supports the app directly.
Which SMS provider does the OTP use, and who pays for the messages?
We integrate the SMS gateway of your choice — Twilio, MSG91, Vonage, or a regional provider that gives you the best rates and deliverability in your markets. SMS costs are billed by that provider directly to you; we configure sender IDs, templates, retry limits, and resend throttling to keep your spend predictable.
Can verification run inside Shopify checkout itself?
Where your Shopify plan and checkout extensibility allow it, OTP can be presented inside the checkout flow. Otherwise — and most reliably across plans — we run verification as a branded post-purchase step linked from the order-confirmation SMS/email, backed by server-side webhook logic so it cannot be bypassed. We recommend the right approach for your plan during scoping.
What happens to an order that is never verified?
You decide the policy. After a configurable timeout, an unverified order can be auto-cancelled (with optional restock), or auto-held and tagged for manual review so your team can decide. Either way the order is clearly tagged and its OTP/risk state is written to order metafields, so it's filterable in your normal Admin order views.
