If you run Odoo Community, you have already hit the wall: real-time (perpetual) inventory valuation and automated stock accounting entries are Enterprise-only. On Community, stock moves happen but no stock.valuation.layer accounting is posted automatically, so your inventory asset account drifts from the physical warehouse and finance is forced into periodic manual journal entries, spreadsheet reconciliations, and month-end guesswork. The moment you have more than a handful of products, standard costing edge-cases, or an auditor asking why the balance sheet inventory figure does not match the stock report, Odoo native Community simply runs out of road — the automated valuation toggle on the product category is inert without the Enterprise stack behind it.
The Automated Stock Valuation Engine is a made-to-order Odoo module we build to close exactly that gap. Technically, it extends stock.move and stock.move.line so that every confirmed move (receipt, delivery, internal transfer, inventory adjustment, manufacturing consumption) generates a valuation layer and posts the matching account.move in real time. It implements the costing methods your business needs — standard, FIFO, or weighted average (AVCO) — as compute/@api.depends fields on product.product and product.category, with correct handling of cost recomputation, returns, and negative-stock scenarios. Configuration lives on the product category (stock input, stock output, and stock valuation accounts) enforced through ir.model.access.csv and record rules so only authorized accounting roles can change valuation policy. Every posting is traceable through QWeb valuation and stock-ledger reports, and the whole engine is exposed over the standard XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API so it stays scriptable from external systems.
Because this is packaged as a proper Odoo module — its own __manifest__.py, models, security, views (XML/OWL), automated actions, and reports — it installs cleanly into your existing database and upgrades with it, rather than living as brittle server-side scripts or one-off SQL. We pin the build to your exact Odoo series (17.0, 18.0, or 19.0) and Community codebase, run it against a copy of your real data, and reconcile the generated valuation layers to your existing inventory asset balance so go-live is a controlled cutover, not a leap of faith.
Delivery is build-to-order: after a short scoping call we confirm costing methods, chart-of-accounts mapping, product/category scope, and any multi-warehouse or localization nuances, then build, test on a staging clone, run UAT with your team, and deploy with a rollback plan. Typical delivery is 2-4 weeks from confirmed scope. Pricing starts from $249 (indicative, single-company base scope); multi-company consolidation, multi-currency valuation, heavy historical data migration, or bespoke reporting increases the quoted scope. You receive a fixed quote after the scoping call — never a surprise invoice.
Owns the balance sheet and can no longer accept an inventory asset figure that drifts from the warehouse. Needs perpetual valuation and auditable journal entries without a full Enterprise upgrade, so month-end stops being a manual reconciliation exercise.
Runs multi-warehouse stock and needs valuation that reacts correctly to receipts, transfers, returns and adjustments in real time, with reports that let them explain any variance between physical count and booked value.
Responsible for keeping the Community database stable and upgrade-safe. Wants a properly packaged module with clean security, tests, and a git handover — not ad-hoc server scripts — and needs it pinned to their exact Odoo series.
Needs the inventory valuation to be traceable from balance-sheet total down to individual valuation layers and source moves, with role-based access controls proving that costing policy cannot be changed by unauthorized users.
| Criterion | ECOSIRE | Custom Build | Competitor | Odoo Native |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Availability | Built to order for your DB and Odoo version | Depends on in-house dev capacity | Instant download, generic build | |
| Real-time valuation on Community | Yes — posts layers and journals on every move | Possible but you own the accounting edge-cases | Varies; often partial or method-limited | |
| Costing methods | Standard, FIFO, AVCO configured to your policy | Whatever you build and maintain | Fixed set, limited configurability | |
| Data reconciliation at go-live | Reconciled to your inventory asset on staging | Manual, on your team | Not included — you self-verify | |
| Security & access control | Tailored `ir.model.access.csv` + record rules | Only if you implement it | Generic, may need tightening | |
| Fit to your accounts & warehouses | Mapped to your CoA and multi-warehouse setup | Full control, full effort | Generic mapping, manual rework | |
| Support & handover | Support window + git repo + docs + training | Internal knowledge only | Vendor tickets, no bespoke support | |
| Total cost of ownership | Fixed quote from $249 indicative, then supported | High dev + ongoing maintenance | Low upfront, hidden fit/rework cost |
No. This is a build-to-order module. ECOSIRE builds it specifically for your Odoo Community version, chart of accounts, and costing policy, then installs and supports it. There is no instant download — you request a quotation and we scope it with you first.
Typical delivery is 2-4 weeks from confirmed scope. After the scoping call we lock costing methods, account mapping, and data scope; the timeline depends mainly on multi-company complexity, historical data migration volume, and any custom reporting. You get a target date in your fixed quote.
Pricing starts from $249 as an indicative single-company base scope. The exact figure depends on costing methods, multi-company/multi-currency needs, migration volume, and reporting. After a short scoping call we send a fixed written quote — no open-ended hourly billing.
Real-time (perpetual) automated stock valuation and the associated accounting entries are Enterprise-only. On Community the toggle exists but the engine that posts valuation layers and journal entries in real time is not there. This module supplies that engine so you get equivalent behavior without an Enterprise license.
Every build includes a post-go-live support window for defects and questions. Because it is a properly packaged module pinned to your Odoo series, it upgrades with your database. Migrating the module to a newer Odoo major version (e.g. 18 to 19) is a separate scoped engagement we can quote when you plan the upgrade.
Yes — that is a core part of delivery. We run the engine against a staging clone of your real data and reconcile the generated valuation layers to your existing inventory asset balance before go-live, so the cutover is controlled and your opening figures tie out.
Standard cost, FIFO, and weighted average (AVCO), configured per product category. During scoping we confirm which method(s) apply to which product families, including handling for returns, revaluations, and negative-stock situations.
