प्रमुख सुविधाएँ

`CA Payroll Year` DocType holding CPP rate, basic exemption, YMPE, EI rate, employer multiplier and MIE, with child tables for federal and provincial bracket sets — a new tax year is a data change, not a redeploy
CPP and CPP2 calculation with per-pay-period basic exemption prorating and correct handling of employees turning 18 or 70 mid-year
EI employee premium and employer premium at a configurable multiplier, with insurable-earnings ceiling enforcement read from the YTD ledger
Federal and provincial income tax computed from CRA payroll deduction formulas using TD1 and TD1-XX claim amounts held on `CA Employee Tax Credit`
`CA YTD Ledger` written transactionally on Salary Slip `on_submit` and reversed on cancel, driving every cap check and all year-end totals
Deductions injected into the standard Salary Slip through `hooks.py` doc events on `validate` and `on_submit`, leaving ERPNext's own GL posting unchanged
Separate payable account mapping per component (CPP employee/employer, EI employee/employer, income tax) so T4 boxes reconcile to the trial balance
`CA T4 Slip` and `CA T4A Slip` generation with box-level mapping (14, 16, 18, 22, 24, 26, 44, 46, 52 and other-information boxes) plus amended and cancelled states
CRA-schema T4/T4A XML export for electronic filing, and per-employee PDF slips rendered from Frappe print formats
`CA T4 Summary` reconciling slip totals against remitted amounts, with a variance report naming the offending employee and period
`CA Record of Employment` assembling insurable hours and the required pay-period earnings history from submitted slips, with reason and last-day-worked capture
PD7A remittance figures per remitting period (monthly, quarterly, accelerated) with drill-down to the contributing Salary Slips
CPA Standard 005 direct-deposit bank file generation with configurable originator, institution and cross-reference settings
Whitelisted methods and Frappe REST API endpoints for slip generation, YTD lookup and remittance figures, plus a nightly scheduler event that recomputes YTD and flags drift
Role profiles for Payroll Officer, Payroll Manager and Payroll Auditor, with field-level permissions on tax-credit data and portal-only slip visibility for employees

इस उत्पाद के बारे में

ERPNext ships a capable payroll engine — Salary Structure, Salary Component, Payroll Entry, Salary Slip — but it is deliberately country-agnostic. Nothing in core knows that CPP has a yearly maximum pensionable earning and a basic exemption prorated over pay periods, that EI insurable earnings stop at an annual ceiling with a separate employer multiplier, or that federal and provincial tax must be computed from CRA's payroll deduction formulas using TD1 and TD1-XX claim amounts. Canadian finance teams end up re-keying ERPNext gross pay into a separate payroll bureau, then reconciling two sets of numbers at year end — and rebuilding T4 slips by hand in a spreadsheet, because ERPNext has no T4, T4A, ROE or PD7A concept at all. The cost is not the data entry; it is the February scramble when a T4 box does not tie to the general ledger.

The Canada Payroll & T4 Pack is a proper Frappe app (ecosire_ca_payroll) with its own module, installed alongside ERPNext rather than patching it. Statutory rates live in versioned DocTypes — CA Payroll Year holds the CPP rate, basic exemption, YMPE, EI rate, employer multiplier and MIE for a tax year, with child tables for the federal and each provincial bracket set — so a new year is a data change, not a code deploy. Employee-side inputs sit on CA Employee Tax Credit (TD1 federal and provincial claim amounts, CPP/EI exemption flags, additional tax requested, prescribed zone deduction). Calculation hooks into the standard Salary Slip lifecycle via hooks.py doc events on validate and on_submit, so deductions appear as ordinary Salary Components and post through ERPNext's existing accounting entries — CPP employee, CPP employer, EI employee, EI employer and income tax each map to their own payable account, which is what makes the T4 reconcile back to the trial balance.

Year-to-date control is what actually makes Canadian payroll correct, so the app maintains a CA YTD Ledger per employee, per payroll account and per year, updated inside the same transaction as Salary Slip submission and reversed on cancel. That ledger is the single source for maximum-contribution caps, for CPP prorating when an employee turns 18 or 70 mid-year, and for the year-end forms. CA T4 Slip and CA T4A Slip are generated from it with box-level mapping (boxes 14, 16, 18, 22, 24, 26, 44, 46, 52 and the other-information boxes), amended and cancelled slip states, CRA-schema XML for electronic filing, and per-employee PDF slips rendered from Frappe print formats. CA T4 Summary reconciles slip totals against what was actually remitted. CA Record of Employment assembles insurable hours and the required pay-period earnings history for the reason and last-day-worked entered by HR. CA Remittance Summary produces PD7A figures per remitting period with a drill-down to the contributing slips, and bank output is generated as CPA Standard 005 direct-deposit files with configurable originator and institution settings.

Everything is reachable programmatically: whitelisted methods and the standard Frappe REST API expose slip generation, YTD lookups and remittance figures, so a portal or scheduled integration can consume them without screen-scraping. A scheduler event runs a nightly YTD reconciliation and flags any employee whose contributions have drifted from the recomputed value. Permissions ship as role profiles — Payroll Officer, Payroll Manager, Payroll Auditor — with field-level restrictions on the tax-credit DocType and read-only slip visibility for employees through the portal. Client scripts add the in-form validations that stop bad data early: a TD1 amount below the basic personal amount, a missing SIN, an ROE raised for an employee with no submitted slips in the period. The app targets Frappe/ERPNext v15 and v16 and is built against your actual bench and your existing Salary Structures.

This is build-to-order, not a marketplace download. You request a quotation, we run a short scoping call to confirm your provinces, pay frequencies, salary component layout, chart of accounts and bank, and we then build against your version. Typical delivery is one working week from confirmed scope. You receive installable source code for your version, a staging deployment for UAT with a parallel run against your last real pay period, a documented rollback plan, and a private git repository handed over at go-live so you are never locked to us.

What you get

  • Installable Frappe app source code (`ecosire_ca_payroll`) built and tested against your exact Frappe/ERPNext version (v15 or v16)
  • Installation and configuration on your bench or Frappe Cloud site, including payroll year rate data, account mapping and salary component wiring
  • Technical documentation: DocType reference, hook points, whitelisted API methods, scheduler events and the year-rate update procedure
  • User guide for payroll staff covering a full pay run, ROE issuance and the year-end T4 cycle, plus one live training session with your team
  • UAT on a staging site with a parallel run against your most recent real pay period, and a written rollback plan agreed before production cutover
  • Post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration adjustments, with an agreed response path
  • Private git repository handover with full commit history, so your team or another partner can maintain and extend the app independently
  • Handover session covering deployment, backup considerations and loading the following tax year's statutory rates

Who this is for

Canadian Controller or Finance Manager

Runs a 20-500 employee payroll and is tired of reconciling an external bureau's numbers against ERPNext's general ledger. Needs CPP, EI and income tax posting to real payable accounts so the T4 summary ties to the trial balance without a February spreadsheet exercise.

HR / Payroll Officer

Processes the pay run, issues Records of Employment when someone leaves, and answers employee questions about deductions. Needs the slip, the ROE and the YTD figure in one system, with validations that catch a missing SIN or a bad TD1 before submission rather than at year end.

ERPNext Implementation Partner or Internal Frappe Developer

Owns the client's bench and will inherit this code. Cares that it is a separate app with clean hooks and DocTypes rather than core patches, that it upgrades cleanly from v15 to v16, and that the git repository and API surface are documented well enough to extend.

Multi-province Operations Lead

Employs staff across several provinces on different pay frequencies and needs each province's bracket set and TD1-XX handled correctly, with remittance figures broken out per payroll account number.

Frequently Asked Questions about Canada Payroll & T4 Pack

How long does delivery take, and what happens after I request a quotation?

This is a build-to-order app, not an instant download. After you request a quotation we run a short scoping call (about 30 minutes) to confirm your Frappe/ERPNext version, provinces, pay frequencies, salary component layout, chart of accounts and bank. Typical delivery is one working week from confirmed scope, including a staging deployment for UAT before production cutover. If your scope adds unusual requirements — multiple payroll account numbers, a non-standard bank format, complex taxable benefits — we say so in the quotation rather than after the build starts.

What support and updates do I get, and who maintains the statutory rates?

Delivery includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration adjustments. Statutory rates are deliberately data, not code: CPP, EI and the federal/provincial brackets live in the `CA Payroll Year` DocType, so your team can enter a new tax year using the documented procedure, and that documentation plus a training session are part of the handover. If you would prefer that we load and verify each year's rates and any CRA form changes, that is available as a separate annual maintenance agreement quoted alongside the build.

Does this replace ERPNext Payroll or sit on top of it?

It sits on top. Your Salary Structures, Payroll Entries and Salary Slips remain standard ERPNext. The app adds Canadian deduction components through `hooks.py` doc events on the Salary Slip, and adds its own DocTypes for the YTD ledger, slips, ROEs and remittances. Because the deductions post as ordinary Salary Components, ERPNext's own accounting entries are used unchanged — which is exactly what makes the year-end numbers reconcile.

Can it file T4s electronically with the CRA?

The app generates CRA-schema T4 and T4A XML for electronic filing plus per-employee PDF slips, and a T4 Summary that reconciles slip totals against what you actually remitted. The submission itself is made by your team through the CRA's own filing channel using your business number and web access code — we do not transmit on your behalf, and no third-party filing account is required.

Which Frappe and ERPNext versions are supported?

We build against Frappe/ERPNext v15 and v16, targeting the exact version running on your bench. The app is a standalone Frappe app with no core patches, so a later version upgrade is a normal app-compatibility exercise rather than a re-implementation. Tell us your version at the scoping call and that is what we develop and test against.

How do I know the numbers are right before we go live?

UAT runs on a staging copy of your site with a parallel run: we reprocess your most recent real pay period through the app and reconcile line by line against what your current process produced, including employer CPP and EI and the GL postings. Discrepancies are resolved before cutover, and a written rollback plan is agreed in advance.

Do I own the code?

Yes. You receive a private git repository with full commit history at handover, plus technical documentation covering the DocTypes, hooks, whitelisted methods and scheduler events. Your own team or another partner can maintain and extend it without us.
