Custom equipment manufacturers live in the gap between "we sell a catalog product" and "we sell a one-off engineered machine." Every order carries its own drawings, its own bill of materials that evolves during design, its own procurement of long-lead castings and controls, and its own margin that only becomes real once the last field-service hour is booked. Odoo's native Manufacturing and Sales modules assume a repeatable product with a stable BoM and a routing you defined once. When each quotation is effectively a new product, teams end up running the real job in spreadsheets alongside Odoo — revision-controlled BoMs in Excel, project margins in a separate workbook, and a sales order that never reflects what was actually engineered. That is exactly where the standard apps run out of road.
Custom Industrial Equipment is an Odoo industry template that ECOSIRE builds for your shop. Technically it is a set of cohesive modules with their own __manifest__.py declaring dependencies on sale, mrp, project, stock, and — where you run Enterprise — mrp_plm and sale_project. We extend sale.order and sale.order.line to carry an engineered-configuration reference, wire mrp.production and mrp.bom to support per-order engineering BoMs with revision tracking, and introduce project-linked job costing so materials, subcontracting, and timesheet labour roll up against each machine's budget. New models such as x_equipment.job and x_equipment.spec are defined with models.Model, typed fields, and @api.depends compute methods that keep quoted cost, committed cost, and actual cost live on every job.
The workflow is built around how engineer-to-order actually flows. A quotation becomes a job; the job spawns an engineering BoM that your designers revise until release; released BoMs drive mrp.production orders and purchase requisitions for long-lead items; and every stage is governed by automated actions (base.automation) that raise the next task, notify the buyer, or flag a margin slip. Access is locked down with ir.model.access.csv plus record rules so engineering, procurement, and shop-floor roles see only their slice, and QWeb reports produce your branded quotation, BoM release sheet, and job cost summary. Everything is exposed over the standard XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API so a CAD/PLM system or a customer portal can read specs and push revisions programmatically. We build against Odoo 17.0, 18.0, or 19.0 and target your edition — Community where the free stack suffices, Enterprise where PLM engineering-change orders, MRP subcontracting, and field-service integration add real value.
Because this is build-to-order, nothing ships until we have agreed your scope. A short scoping call defines your job lifecycle, roles, reports, and any integrations; we then build on a staging instance, run UAT with your team, and hand over installable source, documentation, and a git repository. Typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope, depending on complexity. Pricing starts from $349 (indicative, single-company base scope); multi-company operations, deeper CAD/PLM integration, ERP-to-shop-floor data migration, and additional localization increase the quoted scope. You receive a fixed quote after the scoping call — never a surprise.
A shop that quotes and builds one-off or low-volume custom machines and needs each sales order tied to its own engineering BoM, revisions, and job cost rather than a catalog product.
Runs core Odoo but keeps the real job margin in spreadsheets because native MRP can't track per-order BoM revisions and committed-vs-actual cost. Wants one system of record on the platform their team already uses.
Owns drawings and change control and needs released-BoM discipline, engineering-change notices, and an API path so CAD/PLM data flows into procurement and the shop floor without re-keying.
Needs live cost roll-up per machine — quoted, committed, and actual — plus branded job-cost reports to see which builds are eroding margin before shipment.
| Critère | ÉCOSIRE | Construction personnalisée | Concurrent | Odoo natif |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Engineer-to-order fit | Built around per-order jobs, engineering BoMs, and revisions | Possible but you design the workflow from zero | Assumes repeatable products, not one-off machines | |
| Per-order BoM revisions | Revision-tracked engineering BoMs with released/as-built states | Whatever you have time to build and test | Generic BoM, limited revision control | |
| Live job costing | Quoted, committed, and actual cost roll-up per machine | Build your own compute methods and reports | Basic MRP cost, not project-linked | |
| Fit to your process | Scoped to your lifecycle, roles, and reports | Fully bespoke but on your budget and timeline | Configure within the vendor's fixed assumptions | |
| Support and ownership | Support window plus full source and git handover | Depends on the developer you hired | Vendor support tied to their release cycle | |
| Odoo version coverage | Built for 17.0, 18.0, or 19.0, Community or Enterprise | Only the version you commission | Whatever versions the listing supports | |
| Time to value | Typically 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope | Weeks to months depending on spec churn | Fast to install but slow to force-fit | |
| Cost model | Fixed quote from an indicative $349 base after scoping | Open-ended hourly, hard to cap | Low license fee, high adaptation cost |
No. Custom Industrial Equipment is build-to-order. ECOSIRE configures the industry template around your specific engineer-to-order workflow, roles, and reports, then installs and supports it. There is no instant download — the page price starts the conversation, not a purchase.
Typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope. A short scoping call defines your job lifecycle, roles, reports, and integrations; we then build on a staging instance, run UAT with your team, and cut over to production. Deeper integrations or data migration can extend the timeline, which we state in the quote.
Pricing starts from $349 as an indicative, single-company base-scope figure. After a 15–30 minute scoping call we issue a fixed quote for your exact requirements — no open-ended hourly billing. Drivers such as multi-company setup, CAD/PLM integration, data migration volume, and localization depth increase the quoted scope.
Every build includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration questions. Because the modules are yours with full source and git history, you can maintain them in-house or engage ECOSIRE for version upgrades (for example moving from Odoo 18.0 to 19.0) under a separate agreement.
Both. We target your edition. On Community we deliver the full job, engineering-BoM, and costing workflow using core modules. On Enterprise we additionally leverage PLM engineering-change orders, MRP subcontracting, and field-service links where they add value. The scoping call confirms which edition you run.
Yes. The modules expose specs, BoMs, and revisions over Odoo's XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API, so an external CAD or PLM system can read job data and push released revisions programmatically. The exact integration surface is defined during scoping and priced into the fixed quote.
We build upgrade-safe modules with proper `__manifest__.py` dependencies and inheritance rather than core patches, and hand over the git repository. Major-version upgrades still need a migration pass, which we can quote, but you are never locked into unmaintainable customizations.
