If you run Odoo Community, you have already hit the wall: real-time (perpetual) inventory valuation and automated stock accounting entries are Enterprise-only. On Community, stock moves happen but no stock.valuation.layer accounting is posted automatically, so your inventory asset account drifts from the physical warehouse and finance is forced into periodic manual journal entries, spreadsheet reconciliations, and month-end guesswork. The moment you have more than a handful of products, standard costing edge-cases, or an auditor asking why the balance sheet inventory figure does not match the stock report, Odoo native Community simply runs out of road — the automated valuation toggle on the product category is inert without the Enterprise stack behind it.

The Automated Stock Valuation Engine is a made-to-order Odoo module we build to close exactly that gap. Technically, it extends stock.move and stock.move.line so that every confirmed move (receipt, delivery, internal transfer, inventory adjustment, manufacturing consumption) generates a valuation layer and posts the matching account.move in real time. It implements the costing methods your business needs — standard, FIFO, or weighted average (AVCO) — as compute/@api.depends fields on product.product and product.category, with correct handling of cost recomputation, returns, and negative-stock scenarios. Configuration lives on the product category (stock input, stock output, and stock valuation accounts) enforced through ir.model.access.csv and record rules so only authorized accounting roles can change valuation policy. Every posting is traceable through QWeb valuation and stock-ledger reports, and the whole engine is exposed over the standard XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API so it stays scriptable from external systems.

Because this is packaged as a proper Odoo module — its own __manifest__.py, models, security, views (XML/OWL), automated actions, and reports — it installs cleanly into your existing database and upgrades with it, rather than living as brittle server-side scripts or one-off SQL.
