Estimating custom and job-shop work inside standard Business Central usually ends up in a spreadsheet that nobody can audit and that never reconciles back to what the job actually cost. Manufacturing Estimating & Quoting moves that whole process into BC as a proper, supported app.

ECOSIRE builds this as a per-tenant AL extension installed directly on your Business Central environment (cloud SaaS or on-prem). It is not an instant AppSource download — we tailor it to your routing centers, work/machine center costs, item categories, and approval rules, deploy it, and support it.

The app adds an Estimate document with cost-up lines broken out by material (linked to your Item table and latest/standard cost), labor and machine time (priced from your Work Center and Machine Center rates), and applied overhead. Each line carries its own markup or target margin, and you can publish multi-tier pricing (quantity breaks, customer-tier prices) from a single estimate. Reusable templates and component libraries let an estimator turn a recurring assembly into a quote in minutes.

A revision and approval workflow (built on BC's native workflow engine and approval entries) keeps every quote version traceable. When a quote is won, one action converts the estimate into a Production Order (or assembly/job, depending on your setup) carrying the estimated quantities and routing forward.

After go-live, estimate-vs-actual variance posts back from finished production orders so estimators see exactly where they under- or over-quoted. Everything is exposed via the BC OData/REST API and respects a dedicated permission set, so Power BI, Power Apps, or your CPQ portal can read it safely.

Is this an instant AppSource download?

No. This is a build-to-order app. ECOSIRE builds it as a per-tenant AL extension, tailors it to your routing centers, costing method, and approval rules, then installs and supports it on your Business Central environment. There is no public AppSource listing to download — you buy the build and we deliver and deploy it for you.

What is the delivery lead time?

Typical delivery is about 2 to 4 weeks from the kickoff call, depending on how many custom cost categories, pricing tiers, and approval levels you need. We start in your sandbox, run UAT with your estimators, then promote to production. We confirm a firm date after a short scoping call once you order.

How does ongoing support and updates work?

The one-time build price covers the extension, installation, UAT, training, and a warranty period for fixes. Because it is a per-tenant extension, Microsoft's monthly BC platform updates do not break it the way customizations can — but we offer an optional support retainer to test against new BC releases, add cost categories or pricing rules, and extend the API as your process grows.

Will it work with my existing routings, work centers, and costing method?

Yes. The estimate lines read from your live Item, Work Center, and Machine Center setup and respect your costing method (standard, average, FIFO, etc.). We map the app to your existing data during scoping so estimates reflect real, current costs rather than a parallel set of numbers.

Can the estimate data feed Power BI or a sales/CPQ portal?

Yes. The app exposes estimates and lines through custom BC API pages over OData v4 / REST, secured by a dedicated permission set. Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, or an external CPQ/quoting portal can read and (where permitted) write estimate data. A Dataverse virtual-table option is available for model-driven apps.

Do we own the code, and is it safe across BC upgrades?

You receive the AL source project and the extension is licensed to your tenant. Built as a proper extension using table/page extensions and event subscribers — with no modification of Microsoft's base objects — it survives BC's monthly updates far better than legacy customizations. We can still regression-test it for you against major releases under a support agreement.
