When a tax authority asks "prove this order was taxed correctly," WooCommerce core can't help: it stores only the final tax total on the order, overwrites it whenever you re-save, and keeps no history of which rate, rule or rounding setting actually applied. Tax Audit Trail & Compliance Log for WooCommerce closes that gap. It hooks into woocommerce_checkout_order_processed, woocommerce_order_status_changed and the tax engine (woocommerce_calculate_totals, woocommerce_product_get_tax_class) to capture an immutable record of every tax line — the rate ID, percentage, tax class, jurisdiction (country/state), taxable amount, rounding mode and the WooCommerce tax-rate row in force at that moment.
Immutable per-order log of every tax line: rate ID, percentage, tax class, jurisdiction, taxable base and rounding mode captured at calculation time via WooCommerce tax hooks
SHA-256 hash chaining where each entry seals the previous one, making any post-hoc edit or deletion tamper-evident
Invoice issuance and sequence-number audit trail to prove gapless, sequential invoice numbering for tax authorities
E-invoice submission and acknowledgment/clearance records — full request payload and the portal's response (ZATCA, Peppol, FBR, GST, etc.) stored side by side
HPOS / custom-order-table compatible: writes to a dedicated table, not just order meta, so logs survive order re-saves and edits
wp-admin compliance screen with filters by country, tax rate, status and date range
Each log entry is written to a dedicated custom table (HPOS / custom-order-table compatible), stamped with the order_id, acting user and timestamp, and sealed with a SHA-256 chained hash of the previous entry — so any later edit or deletion is mathematically detectable. Invoice issuance and sequence numbers are tracked the same way, as are e-invoice submissions and the acknowledgment / clearance response returned by your portal (ZATCA, Peppol, FBR, GST, or whichever you integrate), giving a complete request-and-receipt chain.
A wp-admin screen lets your accountant filter by country, tax rate, status and date range and export to CSV or signed PDF for an auditor. Read access is capability-gated; nothing is ever deleted through the UI.
This is build-to-order software, not an instant download. ECOSIRE builds it against your WooCommerce version, tax configuration and e-invoice provider, installs it on your WordPress site, and supports it afterward. We are honest that this means a short lead time — see the FAQ — in exchange for a plugin that fits your stack instead of a generic one you have to bend to fit.
Runs a WooCommerce store in a jurisdiction with mandatory e-invoicing or tax audits and needs defensible, regulator-ready evidence that every order was taxed and invoiced correctly — without trusting that the order's current total reflects what was actually applied.
Closes the books and faces tax authorities on the merchant's behalf. Needs to filter records by country, rate and period, prove invoice sequences have no gaps, and export clean CSV/PDF evidence rather than reconstructing history from raw order meta.
Oversees multi-country or multisite WooCommerce operations where e-invoice portals (ZATCA, Peppol, FBR, GST) return clearance responses that must be retained, and where a tamper-evident chain is required for internal controls or external audit.

This is build-to-order, so there is an honest lead time. After a short scoping call to confirm your WooCommerce version, tax setup and e-invoice provider, a typical build, staging install and production rollout runs about 2 to 4 weeks depending on how many jurisdictions and which e-invoice portal is involved. We install it on a staging copy first, verify the hash chain and exports with you, then deploy to production. You are not downloading a generic plugin — you are getting one built to your stack.
ECOSIRE supports the plugin after install. That covers fixes if a WooCommerce or WordPress update changes a tax hook we rely on, adjustments when your tax rates or e-invoice provider change, and help during an actual audit. We agree the support window and any ongoing maintenance terms with you up front — there is no anonymous marketplace queue; you deal with the team that built it.
Yes. The audit log writes to its own dedicated custom table rather than relying solely on order meta, and it reads order data through WooCommerce's order API, so it is compatible with HPOS / custom order tables as well as legacy post-based orders. We confirm your storage mode during scoping and test against it on staging.
Each entry stores a SHA-256 hash computed over its own contents plus the hash of the previous entry, forming a chain. If anyone edits or deletes a row directly in the database, the chain no longer verifies and the discrepancy is detectable by the verification routine we ship. It does not make the database physically un-editable — nothing on a self-hosted site can — but it makes silent tampering provable, which is what auditors care about.
It is built around your provider. We commonly integrate clearance/reporting portals such as ZATCA (Saudi Arabia), Peppol, FBR (Pakistan) and GST e-invoicing, capturing the submission payload and the portal's acknowledgment or clearance response. If you use a different provider with an API or webhook, we wire the log to capture its request and response during the build.
Yes. Beyond the wp-admin screen's CSV and PDF export, we can expose a read-only WooCommerce REST API endpoint scoped to audit entries, so your accounting or BI tooling can pull records programmatically. Access is capability-gated and read-only, so it never opens a path to alter the log.
