On long-lived Odoo records — a key account partner, a multi-month project, a recurring sales order — the chatter becomes an undifferentiated wall of messages, log notes, tracking changes and scheduled activities. Odoo's native chatter renders every mail.message in reverse-chronological order with no way to filter by author, message type, date range or content. When a support lead or account manager needs the one email where pricing was agreed, or wants to see only internal log notes and hide field-tracking noise, they are left scrolling and using the browser's Ctrl+F. Native offers no server-side search over mail.message.body, no author or subtype filter, and no quick jump to a specific activity. This is exactly where the out-of-the-box experience runs out of road.

Modern Chatter is a build-to-order module we design and construct for your database to make the chatter navigable. Technically, it extends the mail.thread rendering with an OWL-based control bar layered over the standard Chatter component, backed by a server-side search that queries mail.message filtered by res_model/res_id, message_type (comment, notification, activity), subtype_id, author_id and create_date, with body matched via a sanitized ilike/full-text expression so HTML markup never leaks into results. Filters are driven by real ORM domains rather than client-side hiding, so pagination and record counts stay correct on threads with thousands of messages. Access is enforced through the existing mail.message record rules and ir.model.access.csv, so a user only ever searches messages they are already entitled to see — we add zero new read surface. Everything ships in a clean addon with its own __manifest__.py, views/OWL assets, and models, so it upgrades cleanly and can be uninstalled without residue.

Because every Odoo deployment differs, we scope the exact behavior with you before writing code: which models get the enhanced chatter (all mail.thread models, or a targeted set like crm.lead, project.task, helpdesk.ticket), whether you want saved filter presets per user, quick-filter chips for "my activities" or "customer emails only", and whether search should span attachments and activity summaries.
