Sales conversations happen in chat, but the order still has to be created somewhere else. Your team fields product questions, prices, and confirmations inside Odoo Discuss (or a linked channel), then has to leave the thread, open the Sales app, hunt for the customer, rebuild the line items from memory, and only then confirm and invoice. Odoo core does not expose an order-taking surface inside mail.channel / Discuss — the chatter can log a message on an existing sale.order, but there is no native way to spin a quotation up, add lines, price it, confirm it, and raise the account.move invoice without abandoning the conversation. That round trip is where lines get dropped, the wrong pricelist gets applied, and follow-through stalls.
This is a made-to-order module we build for your Odoo. We add a chat-native ordering surface: an OWL-based composer action inside the Discuss thread that lets an authorised user attach or create a res.partner, search product.product with your live pricelist and tax rules applied, add order lines, and generate a real sale.order — all from within the conversation. The order is a first-class Odoo record from the moment it is created (not a shadow object), so sale.order.line prices, account.tax, and pricelist logic resolve exactly as they would in the Sales app. A dedicated model links each conversation to the orders it produced, with @api.depends computed fields surfacing order state, invoiced/to-invoice amounts, and payment status back into the chat header. When the customer says yes, a confirm action moves the order to sale, and an invoice action calls the standard _create_invoices() flow to produce the account.move and, optionally, render the QWuoTE/QWeb invoice PDF and post it back into the thread.
Technically it is a clean, upgrade-safe addon: its own __manifest__.py declaring dependencies on sale_management, account, and mail; models extending rather than overwriting core (sale.order, mail.channel); permissions enforced through ir.model.access.csv plus record rules so a chat agent can only act on partners and orders their team owns; and views/OWL components layered as inherited XML so a version upgrade never clobbers Odoo's own screens. Server-side automation (automated actions / ir.cron where needed) can push status changes — order confirmed, invoice posted, payment received — as system messages into the thread. Everything the chat surface does is also reachable over the XML-RPC/JSON-RPC external API, so a website widget, WhatsApp bridge, or third-party chat front end can drive the same order-taking flow. We support Odoo 17.0, 18.0, and 19.0, on Community or Enterprise (Enterprise's richer Discuss and accounting features are used when present; the module degrades gracefully on Community).
Delivery is build-to-order: after a short scoping call we confirm the exact partner-matching rules, pricelist/tax behaviour, which chat surface (native Discuss, livechat, or an external channel), and the invoice/payment steps you want automated, then hand back a fixed quote and a written scope. Typical delivery is 2 to 4 weeks from confirmed scope, built and tested on a staging copy of your database before we touch production. Pricing starts from $299 (indicative, single-company base scope); multi-company chat routing, external chat-channel integrations (e.g. a WhatsApp or website widget over JSON-RPC), deeper localization of the invoice/tax flow, or migrating historical conversation-to-order data increases the quoted scope.
Reps who negotiate and close inside chat channels and want to raise the quote and confirm the order in the same thread, so nothing is lost between the conversation and the Sales app.
Staff who need every chat-originated sale to become a proper `account.move` invoice with the correct taxes and pricelist, and a clean audit trail linking each invoice back to the conversation that produced it.
The team that owns the Odoo instance and needs an upgrade-safe addon with proper `ir.model.access.csv` and record rules, no core overwrites, and API parity for future channel integrations.
Livechat or helpdesk agents who occasionally sell add-ons or renewals mid-conversation and need to invoice without breaking their chat workflow or double-keying the order.
| Criterion | ECOSIRE | Custom Build | Competitor | Odoo Native |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Order creation inside chat | Native panel in the Discuss thread creates a real sale.order | Possible but you design and build it from scratch | Varies; often a fixed UI you cannot adapt | |
| Pricelist & tax accuracy | Server-side pricelist/account.tax resolved exactly as Sales app | Depends entirely on your developer's rigor | Usually correct but hard to verify against your rules | |
| Invoice from the conversation | One action calls _create_invoices() and posts the PDF back | You build the invoicing bridge yourself | Sometimes; often limited to draft creation | |
| Fit to your workflow | Scoped to your partner-matching, approvals, and channels | Fully bespoke, at full custom cost and timeline | Take it as shipped; limited configuration | |
| Upgrade safety (17/18/19) | Inherited XML/OWL, no core overwrites, version-pinned | Only as clean as your team makes it | Depends on vendor's coding discipline | |
| Security model | ir.model.access.csv + record rules scoped to your teams | You must design and audit it | Generic ruleset, may need tightening | |
| Support & ownership | Support window + git repo handover + docs | Whatever you resource internally | Vendor ticket queue; source often obfuscated | |
| Cost & delivery | From $299 indicative, fixed quote, 2-4 weeks | Typically higher and longer, open-ended | Low upfront, but adaptation costs extra |
No. This is a build-to-order module. ECOSIRE builds it for your specific Odoo version and configuration, then installs and supports it. There is no instant download — you request a quotation and we scope, build, and deliver.
Typical delivery is 2 to 4 weeks from confirmed scope. After the scoping call we agree the exact partner-matching, pricelist/tax, chat surface, and invoicing behaviour, then build and test on a staging copy of your database before any production change. Larger scope (multi-company, external chat bridges, data migration) can extend that.
Pricing starts from $299 as an indicative from-price for a single-company base scope. After a short scoping call we give you a fixed quote and a written scope. Drivers like multi-company routing, external channel integrations, localization depth, or historical data migration increase the quoted scope.
Every build includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration questions. Because we deliver a version-pinned addon with a git repo handover, upgrades to a newer Odoo major version (e.g. 18 to 19) are a scoped follow-on engagement rather than a surprise — we quote the port when you plan the upgrade.
Odoo 17.0, 18.0, and 19.0, on both Community and Enterprise. Enterprise-only Discuss and accounting features are used when present; on Community the module degrades gracefully and still creates real `sale.order` and `account.move` records.
No. The module lives in its own addon with a clean `__manifest__.py`, extends core models rather than overwriting them, and layers UI as inherited XML/OWL views. That keeps it upgrade-safe and reduces conflicts. We test against your actual module set on staging as part of UAT.
Yes, as scoped work. The order-taking flow is fully available over the XML-RPC/JSON-RPC external API, so an external messaging bridge or website widget can drive the same create-order and invoice actions. That integration is quoted on top of the base scope.
