Cross-border merchants on Shopify hit the same wall: Shopify calculates tax at checkout, but it does not produce the legally compliant invoice documents that buyers, accountants and tax authorities demand in each jurisdiction. Sequential invoice numbering, B2B reverse-charge wording, VAT-number validation, per-country thresholds, and multi-language layouts all fall outside the native order confirmation.

Global VAT/GST Invoicing is a Shopify app ECOSIRE builds to order for your store and installs as a custom (unlisted) app on your account. It uses the Admin GraphQL API and an orders/create / orders/paid webhook to generate a compliant PDF invoice the moment an order is placed, then stores the invoice reference and sequential number in order metafields so your data stays inside Shopify.

The app reads the customer's shipping and billing country, applies the matching VAT/GST rule and registration threshold, and decides whether to charge tax, apply B2B reverse-charge, or treat the sale as zero-rated export. For B2B orders it validates the buyer's VAT number (EU VIES-style lookup) before removing tax. Invoices render in the buyer's currency and language, and your team can bulk-export PDF invoices and packing slips for any date range or order filter.

Because it is built to order, the tax matrix, document template, numbering format and language set are tailored to the exact countries you sell into — not a generic preset. There is no instant App Store download: after purchase, ECOSIRE scopes your requirements, builds, installs and tests the app on your store, then supports it. This is honest custom delivery, not a self-serve plugin.

How long does delivery take, and what happens after I buy?

This is a build-to-order app, not an instant App Store download. After purchase, ECOSIRE schedules a short scoping call to confirm the countries you sell into, your legal entity details and template needs. Typical delivery is about 2-4 weeks depending on how many tax jurisdictions and languages are involved. We then install the app on your store via OAuth, test it against live and sample orders, and hand it over.

Do I get ongoing support and updates?

Yes. The price includes a post-launch support window for bug fixes, tax-rule adjustments and updates when Shopify increments its Admin API version. We can also adjust your country matrix or add new languages as you expand. Longer-term maintenance and rule monitoring are available as an optional retainer.

Why can't Shopify's native invoices or a free App Store app do this?

Shopify calculates tax at checkout but does not issue jurisdiction-compliant invoice documents with sequential numbering, reverse-charge wording, VAT validation and per-country thresholds. Generic App Store invoice apps use fixed presets and rarely cover B2B validation or your exact country matrix. A build-to-order app is tailored to the precise regions and rules you operate under.

Will it handle B2B reverse-charge and VAT-number validation?

Yes. For business buyers it validates the supplied VAT number through an EU VIES-style lookup before removing tax, then renders the correct reverse-charge statement on the invoice. If validation fails, the order falls back to your configured default tax treatment so you never silently zero-rate an unverified sale.

Where is my invoice data stored, and is it secure?

Invoice numbers and references are written back into Shopify order metafields, so your records stay inside your store rather than a third-party silo. The app is installed via OAuth with least-privilege scopes (typically read_orders plus permission to write order metafields). Generated PDFs are delivered to your store and can be bulk-exported on demand.

Can the invoice template match my branding and legal requirements?

Yes. We build the PDF template with your logo, registered legal entity, VAT/GST registration numbers, address and any mandatory footer disclosures for the jurisdictions you operate in. Layouts are produced per language so an Arabic, German or Japanese buyer receives a correctly localized document.
