Idle inventory is silent margin erosion. In stock-heavy Odoo deployments, working capital quietly gets trapped in items that haven't moved in months, warehouse bins fill with overstock ordered against optimistic forecasts, and lots creep toward expiry unnoticed. Odoo's native stock.quant, forecasted-availability screens and inventory valuation report tell you what you have and what it's worth today — but they don't age it, they don't flag what stopped selling, and they don't quantify the carrying cost of holding it. Finance asks "how much cash is stuck in dead stock?" and the honest answer requires exporting quants, joining them against stock.move history in a spreadsheet, and rebuilding the analysis every month by hand.
Movement-velocity engine computed from `stock.move` / `stock.move.line` outbound history, not just current `stock.quant` snapshots
Configurable classification bands (dead, slow-mover, healthy, overstock) driven by days-since-last-move, rolling velocity and stock-cover thresholds you define
Inventory aging by product, location, lot/serial and warehouse with pivot and graph views
Tied-up-capital computation via `@api.depends` computed fields, using standard or average cost per your valuation method
Estimated carrying cost from a configurable annual holding rate (storage, insurance, obsolescence, cost of capital)
Overstock-vs-optimal analysis comparing on-hand against reorder/target levels to size the overhang in units and value
This is where a native Odoo install runs out of road, and where we build. Deadstock & Overstock Analytics is a purpose-built module (proper __manifest__.py, models.Model classes, ir.model.access.csv plus record rules for multi-company isolation) that computes movement velocity and aging directly from your stock.move / stock.move.line history and stock.quant positions. We classify every product-location (and, where you track it, every lot/serial) into bands — dead, slow-mover, healthy, overstock — using thresholds you set: days-since-last-outbound-move, rolling sales velocity, and stock-cover in days against consumption. Computed fields via @api.depends derive tied-up capital from standard or average cost, apply a configurable annual carrying-cost rate (storage, insurance, obsolescence, cost of capital) to estimate what the idle stock is costing you to keep, and compare on-hand quantity against a reorder/optimal level to size the overstock overhang. A liquidation view surfaces markdown and clearance candidates ranked by tied capital and age, so ops has a prioritized action list instead of a hunch.
Technically it ships as real Odoo, not a bolt-on. You get list/pivot/graph/search views (XML, with OWL where an interactive dashboard adds value) so users can slice aging by warehouse, product category, lot, or responsible buyer; a QWeb PDF "Deadstock & Tied-Capital" report for finance and management reviews; menu items and access groups wired through ir.model.access.csv; and optional ir.cron scheduled jobs plus automated actions that recompute the bands nightly and can flag or email when a product tips into the dead band. Everything is queryable over Odoo's XML-RPC / JSON-RPC API, so the same numbers can feed a BI tool or an external dashboard. It's built against Odoo 17.0, 18.0 or 19.0 for your exact edition — Community or Enterprise (on Enterprise we can surface the analysis alongside Inventory's own reporting and Studio-friendly models; on Community we deliver the full reporting stack natively without paid dependencies).
Because this is build-to-order, nothing ships blind. We start with a short scoping call to pin down your velocity windows, aging bands, costing basis and carrying-cost assumptions, then build the module against your data on a staging instance, run UAT with your finance and ops leads, and deploy behind a rollback plan. Typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope depending on how many warehouses, lot-tracked products and edge cases (consignment, drop-ship, negative stock) are in play. You receive the installable source for your Odoo version, a git repository handover, technical and user documentation, a training session, and a post-go-live support window — so the analysis keeps running as your catalog and warehouses change.
Needs a defensible, repeatable number for cash tied up in idle and dead stock, aged and costed from real movement data, to drive markdown and write-down decisions instead of month-end spreadsheet archaeology.
Wants a prioritized list of what stopped moving and what is overstocked against optimal levels, sliced by warehouse and buyer, so clearance and rebalancing effort goes where the tied capital and age are highest.
Tracks lots and serials and needs aging plus days-to-expiry visibility to move product before it's written off, with automated alerts when items tip toward dead or expiry.
Wants one recurring view and a finance-ready PDF that answers 'how much cash is stuck and what do we do about it' without adding a separate BI stack or manual reporting overhead.

| Kriterium | ECOSIRE | Benutzerdefinierter Build | Konkurrent | Odoo Native |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aging from real movement history | Computed from `stock.move` outbound history with configurable windows | Possible, but you design and maintain the logic | Often snapshot-based; aging depth varies | |
| Tied-capital & carrying-cost estimates | Configurable annual holding rate on standard/average cost | Build your own costing model from scratch | Rarely includes carrying-cost math | |
| Overstock vs optimal-level analysis | On-hand vs reorder/target with overhang sizing | Feasible with significant effort | Sometimes; often limited to reorder alerts | |
| Liquidation / markdown recommendations | Ranked candidate list by tied capital and age | Only if you specify and build it | Uncommon | |
| Fit to your Odoo version & edition | Built and tested for your 17/18/19, Community or Enterprise | Depends on your team's Odoo expertise | Generic; may lag on new versions | |
| Lot/serial aging & expiry | Per-lot aging with days-to-expiry surfacing | Buildable with extra work | Varies; often product-level only | |
| Ownership & handover | Full source + git repo handover, you own it | You own it (and maintain it) | Vendor-locked, closed or licensed | |
| Support & upgrades | Post-go-live window + optional upgrade engagements | Your team, or ad-hoc contractors | Tied to vendor's roadmap and SLA |
This is build-to-order, so there is no instant download. After a short scoping call to confirm your bands, costing basis and warehouse setup, typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope. More warehouses, heavy lot/serial tracking, or edge cases like consignment and drop-ship can extend that, and we'll tell you honestly during scoping.
You define the thresholds. We compute movement velocity from your outbound `stock.move` history over a rolling window you choose, combine it with days-since-last-move and stock-cover in days, and classify each product-location into bands. Nothing is hard-coded — the rules are configurable settings you can tune after go-live.
Both. We build for your exact edition. On Community we deliver the full reporting stack natively with no paid dependencies; on Enterprise we can align the analysis with Inventory's own reporting and keep the models Studio-friendly. It's built and tested against Odoo 17.0, 18.0 or 19.0 as you require.
The heavy aggregation runs on a scheduled `ir.cron` job (typically nightly) that recomputes the bands and stores results, so day-to-day views read pre-computed values rather than scanning full move history on every open. We size the job to your data volume and can tune its frequency.
Tied capital uses your product cost (standard or average per your valuation method) times on-hand quantity. Carrying cost applies a configurable annual holding-rate percentage — covering storage, insurance, obsolescence and cost of capital — pro-rated by how long the stock has been idle. You set the rate; we make the assumptions visible in the reports.
Yes. All models and computed metrics are exposed over Odoo's XML-RPC / JSON-RPC API, so Power BI, a data warehouse or a custom dashboard can pull the same aging, tied-capital and overstock figures the Odoo views show.
Every build includes a post-go-live support window for fixes and questions, plus a git repository handover so you own the code. Beyond the window we offer ongoing support and version-upgrade work (for example moving the module from Odoo 17 to 18 or 19) as a separate engagement.
