Bad addresses are expensive: re-ships, refunds, support tickets, and carrier surcharges that core Magento 2 does nothing to prevent. Its checkout simply trusts whatever the customer types into the street, city, and postcode fields.

This is a build-to-order Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce module, custom-built and installed by ECOSIRE for your store. We deliver it as a proper module under app/code/Ecosire/AddressValidation — registered with registration.php, configured through etc/adminhtml/system.xml, and wired into checkout via a UI component that augments the Magento_Checkout address form (LumaCheckout) or your Hyvä theme.

Google Places autocomplete suggests complete, formatted addresses as the customer types, then a before-place-order validation step verifies deliverability against the Places/Address Validation API. A GeoIP lookup pre-fills country and region to reduce friction. Postcode and format checks run server-side too, exposed through a custom REST endpoint and resolved in GraphQL for headless/PWA Studio storefronts, so the same rules protect every channel.

Everything is configurable from Stores → Configuration behind a dedicated admin ACL resource: toggle hard-block vs. soft-warn on failed validation, restrict by country, and store your Google API key encrypted. We respect Adobe Commerce vs. Open Source differences and your existing checkout customizations.

How long until the extension is live on my store?

This is build-to-order, not an instant download. After purchase we confirm your Magento edition (Open Source vs. Adobe Commerce), version, and checkout theme (Luma or Hyvä). Typical delivery is 5–10 business days: we build the module, install it on your staging environment, validate against test orders, then deploy to production with your sign-off. Heavily customized or headless (PWA Studio) checkouts may add a few days, which we confirm in writing before starting.

What support and updates do I get after delivery?

You receive the full module source and a runbook. We include a defect-fix window after go-live, and offer ongoing support for Magento version upgrades, Google API changes, and configuration tweaks. Because you own the source, any Magento developer can maintain it — but ECOSIRE remains available for paid support retainers and feature additions.

Do I need my own Google API key?

Yes. The module uses the Google Places and Address Validation APIs, which are billed to your own Google Cloud account. We configure the key for you (stored encrypted in admin) and apply session-token batching to keep autocomplete costs low, but the API usage is billed by Google directly to you so you keep full control.

Will it work with my existing checkout and other extensions?

It's designed to coexist. We integrate through Magento's UI component and plugin/observer extension points rather than overwriting core checkout, and we review your installed checkout extensions during scoping. If a conflict exists with another one-page-checkout extension, we adapt the integration point and confirm compatibility on staging before production.

Does it support headless / PWA Studio storefronts?

Yes. Beyond the Luma/Hyvä JS component, validation is exposed through a custom REST endpoint and a GraphQL resolver, so a PWA Studio or any headless frontend can call the same server-side rules. The deliverability check is enforced server-side, so it can't be bypassed regardless of which storefront calls it.
