Cross-border carts that look cheap at checkout become refund requests when the courier demands duties and import VAT on the doorstep. The Cross-Border Landed Cost & Duty Calculator is a Shopify app ECOSIRE builds, installs and supports for your specific store so the price your customer agrees to is the price they actually pay — a true DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) checkout.
This is build-to-order, not an instant App Store download. After purchase, our engineers scope your destination countries, product taxonomy and carrier setup, then build and deploy the app into your store. The app uses Shopify's Admin GraphQL API and Checkout/Cart APIs to compute landed cost in real time: HS code classification assistance per variant (stored in product metafields), destination-country duty rates, and VAT/GST inclusion driven by the buyer's shipping address.
Landed-cost figures surface as a checkout line or order-level breakdown and are written back to the order via metafields and order webhooks (orders/create, orders/paid) so your 3PL, accounting and carrier/broker integrations (DHL, FedEx, UPS, or your customs broker's API) receive a consistent, auditable number. Prepaid duties are collected at checkout so nothing is billed on delivery.
We respect Shopify's platform: OAuth install, least-privilege scopes, GDPR/mandatory webhooks, and rate-limit-aware GraphQL. You get a documented app, an admin configuration surface for rates and HS mappings, and a named ECOSIRE engineer for changes as tariffs and tax rules shift. Honest scope: duty and tax engines depend on the rate sources and carrier APIs we agree on — we tell you exactly what is covered before we build.
Sells into multiple countries and is bleeding refunds and chargebacks because customers get surprised by courier duty bills. Wants a guaranteed all-in price at checkout to protect margin and reviews.
Owns checkout conversion and fulfillment accuracy. Needs landed cost computed consistently and pushed into the 3PL and accounting stack via webhooks and metafields, not handled in spreadsheets.
Responsible for correct VAT/GST collection, de minimis handling and customs auditability across jurisdictions. Wants every quote logged and reconcilable against the order and the carrier invoice.

No. This is a build-to-order app. ECOSIRE custom-builds, installs and configures it for your store after purchase. We do this because landed cost depends on your specific destination countries, product taxonomy, duty-rate sources and carrier setup — a generic one-size app cannot guarantee accuracy. You receive a real, documented app installed via OAuth, not a template.
A typical build is delivered in about 10 to 15 business days from the kickoff scoping call, depending on how many destination countries, the size of your catalog (HS classification effort) and which carrier or broker integration you need. We confirm a firm timeline in writing during scoping, before any build work begins.
Every build includes 30 days of post-launch support for fixes and configuration adjustments. Because tariffs, VAT/GST rates and de minimis thresholds change, we also offer an optional ongoing retainer covering rate maintenance, new destination countries, carrier-API changes and Shopify API-version upgrades. You get a named ECOSIRE engineer either way.
We are honest about this: accuracy depends on the rate sources and carrier APIs we agree on during scoping. With a live carrier/broker integration, quotes reflect that provider's rates. With static rate tables you maintain, accuracy depends on keeping them current — which the retainer covers. We document exactly which countries and sources are in scope before building, so there are no surprises.
Yes. The landed-cost breakdown is written back to each order via metafields and emitted through order webhooks (orders/create, orders/paid), so any system that consumes Shopify orders receives a consistent figure. We can also push directly to your specific 3PL or ERP if it exposes an API, which we confirm during scoping.
No. The app installs through Shopify OAuth with least-privilege scopes — only the permissions needed for products, orders, checkout and metafields. It includes the GDPR mandatory webhooks (customers/redact, shop/redact) and follows Shopify's data and rate-limit guidelines, so it meets App-Store-grade security standards even though it is privately installed.
