Shopify Payments and most off-the-shelf gateways simply do not serve African merchants well — they lack mobile money, M-Pesa, and local-currency settlement across the continent. The Flutterwave Gateway for Shopify (Africa) closes that gap. ECOSIRE builds, installs and supports a payment integration that connects your Shopify checkout directly to your own Flutterwave merchant account, so customers in 30+ African countries can pay the way they actually pay.

This is a build-to-order solution. After purchase, ECOSIRE collects your Flutterwave API keys (test and live), provisions the integration against your store via OAuth and the Admin GraphQL API, registers the required order and refund webhooks, and configures payment-method routing for your target markets. You receive a working, tested gateway — not a generic app you have to wire up alone.

The integration supports card payments, mobile money (MTN, Airtel, etc.), M-Pesa Express (STK push) for Kenya, and bank transfer, with multi-currency settlement so you collect in NGN, KES, GHS, ZAR, USD and more. Cross-border acceptance lets diaspora and international shoppers (US/UK/EU) check out on the same store. Successful and failed transactions are reconciled back to Shopify orders via signed webhooks, with the Flutterwave transaction reference written to order metafields for clean accounting and dispute handling.

Because every African market has its own rails, currencies and compliance quirks, this is delivered as a scoped engagement: we confirm your countries, currencies and methods up front, build to that spec, and hand over a documented, supported gateway. Is this an app I download instantly from the Shopify App Store?

No. This is a build-to-order integration. After purchase, ECOSIRE builds, installs and configures the Flutterwave gateway on your specific store against your own Flutterwave merchant account. You receive a tested, working setup rather than a self-serve App Store download.

How long does delivery take?

Typical delivery is around 1 to 2 weeks from the point we receive your Flutterwave API keys, the list of countries and currencies you want to support, and access to your Shopify store. Timelines depend on how many markets and payment methods are in scope; we confirm a firm date during the scoping step before any build starts.

Do I need my own Flutterwave account?

Yes. You must have an active Flutterwave merchant account in good standing, with the relevant countries, currencies and payment methods enabled on Flutterwave's side. The integration connects to your account using your own live and test API keys — settlement and funds always go to you, never through ECOSIRE.

What ongoing support and updates are included?

Every build includes a defined post-delivery support window for fixes and configuration help. Flutterwave's API and Shopify's checkout evolve over time, so we offer ongoing maintenance to keep the gateway working as those platforms change. Maintenance terms beyond the initial window are agreed as part of the engagement.

Will M-Pesa and mobile money actually work, or just cards?

Both. We configure the locally relevant methods for each country you target — including M-Pesa Express (STK push) for Kenya and mobile money providers such as MTN and Airtel — alongside cards and bank transfer, provided those methods are enabled on your Flutterwave account for those markets.
