This is a build-to-order Magento 2 integration, not an instant Adobe Commerce Marketplace download. After purchase, ECOSIRE engineers, installs and supports a dedicated Ecosire_RakutenConnector module (under app/code/Ecosire/RakutenConnector) tailored to your catalog, your Rakuten region (Rakuten France / Rakuten Ichiba Japan) and your fulfillment workflow.
The extension talks to the Rakuten marketplace REST API through a service-contract layer: PHP interfaces in Api/, concrete models registered via etc/di.xml, and an OAuth/API-key credential store managed under a dedicated admin ACL resource so only authorized roles can edit marketplace settings. Catalog publishing runs as a bulk operation — your Magento attribute set is mapped to Rakuten category attributes and genre/category trees, with required-attribute validation before anything is pushed.
Inventory and price synchronization is two-way and incremental: Magento cataloginventory/MSI stock changes and tier/special prices propagate to Rakuten on a cron schedule, while Rakuten-side reservations are reconciled back. Orders placed on Rakuten are imported as native Magento sales orders via an observer/queue pipeline, with customer, shipping and line-item mapping, so your existing fulfillment, invoicing and shipment workflows keep working unchanged.

How long until the extension is delivered and live?
This is a build-to-order engagement, so there is a real lead time. A typical Rakuten single-region build is delivered to your staging environment in about one working week after we confirm scope, Rakuten API access and your catalog structure. Multi-region (FR + JP) or heavily customized catalog mappings can extend that. We give you a firm timeline during scoping, then deliver in milestones: module build, staging install, UAT round, then production go-live.
What ongoing support and updates do I get after launch?
Every build includes a defined post-launch support and warranty window covering bug fixes and sync issues. Because you receive the full source in your own repository, you can maintain it yourself or keep ECOSIRE on a support retainer for Magento 2.4.x upgrade compatibility, Rakuten API changes, and new mapping or feature work. We do not push silent auto-updates to your production store — changes are reviewed and deployed deliberately.
Does this work on Adobe Commerce as well as Magento Open Source?
Yes. The module is built to standard Magento 2 conventions — dependency injection, service contracts, plugins/interceptors and declarative schema — so it runs on Adobe Commerce (Cloud and on-prem) and Magento Open Source 2.4.x. We confirm your exact version and PHP runtime during scoping and test against it.
How does order import affect my existing fulfillment workflow?
Rakuten orders are imported as native Magento sales orders, not stored in a separate silo. Customer, shipping address and line items are mapped to Magento entities, so your existing invoice, shipment, inventory deduction and notification flows operate exactly as they do for on-site orders. Shipment tracking can be pushed back to Rakuten depending on the region's API capabilities.
Will it overwrite or break my store when Magento is upgraded?
No core files are modified. All behavior is added through plugins/interceptors, observers, dependency injection and declarative schema, which is the upgrade-safe approach. Sync state and mapping data live in dedicated tables created via `db_schema.xml`. When you upgrade Magento, the module is re-validated against the new version; that compatibility check is part of the support retainer if you keep one.
What do I need to provide before you start building?
You provide an active Rakuten seller account with API/marketplace access for your target region (FR or JP), a staging Magento 2 environment (or access to provision one), your attribute set / catalog structure, and the category mapping rules you want. We handle the engineering, installation and configuration from there.
