DHL Express Shipping for Magento 2 (REST API) is a custom-built carrier integration for international merchants who depend on DHL Express for cross-border parcels. Magento Open Source ships only the legacy DHL XML/SOAP carrier in core, which DHL is retiring in favour of its modern MyDHL / DHL Express REST API — this extension replaces that gap with a clean, native implementation.
ECOSIRE delivers it as a proper Magento module under app/code/Ecosire/DhlExpress, registered via registration.php and wired through dependency injection (di.xml). The carrier is implemented as a Magento\Shipping\Model\Carrier\AbstractCarrierOnline subclass exposing live rates at checkout — quote requests are mapped from the quote's shipping address, package weight and dimensions to DHL's /rates REST endpoint, with results returned as standard Magento Method objects so they render in checkout, multishipping and the admin order create screen.
On shipment, the module calls DHL's /shipments endpoint to produce the air waybill, the commercial / proforma invoice and customs paperwork (HS codes, declared value, incoterms, customs line items), stores the returned label PDF against the Magento shipment, and writes the DHL tracking number back so it appears in the customer account, order emails and the admin grid. Multi-piece shipments are supported by mapping multiple Magento shipment packages to DHL piece records.
Configuration lives under Stores → Configuration → Sales → Shipping Methods, with API credentials, account number, label format and a sandbox toggle stored encrypted in core_config_data. Admin actions respect Magento ACL; webhooks/cron handle tracking refresh. Works on Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce, and exposes shipment data to the existing REST/GraphQL order APIs. Because it is build-to-order, ECOSIRE tailors weight/dimension logic, incoterms defaults and product attribute mapping to your exact catalogue before handing over a working install.

How long does delivery take, since this is build-to-order?
This extension is custom-built, installed and configured by ECOSIRE on your store — it is not an instant Adobe Commerce Marketplace download. Typical turnaround is about 1 to 2 weeks from the kickoff call and access handover, depending on how much catalogue and customs mapping your products need. We confirm a firm date in writing before starting and deliver to your staging environment first for sign-off.
What ongoing support and updates are included?
Every build includes 30 days of post-install support to fix any defect in the delivered integration. Beyond that, because DHL evolves its REST API and Magento ships quarterly security releases, we offer optional maintenance to keep the module compatible with new DHL API versions and Magento / Adobe Commerce upgrades. Updates are delivered to your repository, not pushed silently.
Does this use the new DHL REST API or the old XML carrier?
It uses DHL Express's modern MyDHL REST API (/rates, /shipments, tracking) — the same platform DHL is steering merchants to as it retires the legacy XML/SOAP services. Magento core only bundles the older DHL carrier, which is why a native REST implementation is needed.
Will it work on both Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce?
Yes. The module is built against Magento 2 framework APIs and the AbstractCarrierOnline contract, so it runs on both Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce (Cloud included). We confirm your exact Magento version during scoping and target it specifically.
What do I need to provide to get started?
A DHL Express / MyDHL account number with REST API credentials, admin and (ideally) SSH or Git access to a staging environment, and a sample of your product catalogue so we can map weights, dimensions, HS codes and country of origin. If you do not yet have API access, we will guide you through requesting it from DHL.
