Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ships with a basic Resource time-sheet, but project-driven firms quickly outgrow it: no billable/non-billable split on the grid, weak approval routing, and no clean path from logged hours to job cost and payroll. Timesheet & Time Tracking for Business Central closes that gap.

This is a build-to-order AL extension, not an instant AppSource download. ECOSIRE designs, builds, installs and supports it as a per-tenant extension deployed directly to your Business Central environment (cloud/SaaS or on-prem). You get source-aligned AL that fits your chart of accounts, dimensions and posting rules — not a generic app you have to bend your process around.

What it does. Page extensions add weekly and daily timesheet grids with inline Project, Job, Job Task and activity-code allocation. A table extension stores billable flags, cost rates and billing rates per line. A configurable multi-level approval workflow (built on Business Central's native Workflow + Approval engine, surfaced through the Job Queue and notifications) routes submissions from employee → line manager → project manager. On approval, event subscribers post hours as Job Journal Lines (cost-rate to GL and job, billing-rate to WIP/invoice), so project costing and customer billing stay reconciled.

Integration-ready. Standard tables are exposed via the Business Central REST/OData v4 API for Power BI, mobile capture and Dataverse / Power Platform flows. How long until the timesheet extension is live on our Business Central environment?

Typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from the point your requirements are signed off — approval depth, rate logic and posting customization drive the exact timeline. ECOSIRE builds the AL extension, reviews the approval and posting design with you, installs it as a per-tenant extension on your environment, and runs a full submit-approve-post smoke test before handover. This is a build-to-order engagement, not an instant AppSource download.

Is this on Microsoft AppSource, or how is it installed?

It is not an AppSource listing you self-download. It is a per-tenant AL extension that ECOSIRE compiles and installs directly onto your Business Central tenant (SaaS or on-prem). You receive the .app file and the full AL source, so you are never locked to us — though most clients keep us on for support and changes.

Does it work with our existing jobs, dimensions and chart of accounts?

Yes. Because it is built to order, allocation is validated against your actual Job, Job Task and activity codes, and posting respects your GL accounts, dimensions and shortcut dimensions. We configure the cost-rate and billing-rate mapping to match how you already run job costing in Business Central.

Can we capture time on mobile and report in Power BI?

Yes. The timesheet tables are exposed through Business Central's REST/OData v4 API, so you can build Power BI dashboards on top of them and capture entries via a Power Apps mobile screen or Dataverse sync. We include endpoint documentation and a sample connection guide; deeper Power Platform apps can be added as a follow-on scope.

What about ongoing support and updates after go-live?

ECOSIRE supports the extension on your environment after delivery: bug fixes, permission and workflow adjustments, and recompiles to stay compatible with Microsoft's Business Central major releases (the cloud cadence is roughly twice a year). Support and enhancement terms are agreed per engagement; because you hold the AL source, you also retain the option to maintain it with your own AL developers.
