At its core the module adds a dedicated gift.card model (with card.transaction history and voucher.campaign records) tied into Odoo's native pos.session, pos.order and pos.payment.method. Cashiers sell and activate cards directly on the POS screen — a custom OWL widget adds a "Gift Card / Voucher" payment method and product flow, so activation, redemption, top-up and balance lookups all happen at the till without leaving the session. Balances are stored server-side and validated on every transaction, so a card sold in one shop redeems cleanly in another the moment sessions sync.
Redemption supports full or partial spend: when a card covers only part of the basket, the remaining balance is written back atomically and the shortfall rolls to the customer's next payment method. Recharge and top-up flows let staff add value to an existing card, extend expiry dates, and reactivate lapsed cards under permission control. Promotional voucher campaigns issue single-use or reusable coupon codes with configurable value, validity window, per-customer limits and product/category eligibility — enforced by server-side @api.constrains checks, never just the UI.
Every scan, sale, redemption and top-up writes an immutable card.transaction row, giving finance a complete audit trail and eliminating the "where did the balance go" disputes that kill trust in a gift-card program. Barcode and card-number scanning are handled through Odoo's POS barcode layer so cashiers simply scan the card to look up its balance or apply it as payment. Access is locked down with ir.model.access.csv plus record rules (a cashier can redeem but not manually adjust a balance; a manager can), and QWeb reports plus dashboard views give managers outstanding-liability, breakage and per-store performance visibility.

No — this is a build-to-order module that ECOSIRE develops and installs specifically for your Odoo database, not an instant apps.odoo.com download. Typical lead time is 2–4 weeks from requirements sign-off to production go-live, depending on how many stores, campaign rules and integrations (accounting, eCommerce, CRM) you need. You get a scoped timeline in the SOW before we start, and we run full UAT — issuing, redeeming, recharging and expiring test cards — before cutover.
What support and updates do I get after delivery?
Delivery includes a defined post-go-live support and bug-fix window (agreed in the SOW) covering issues, questions and minor tuning. Because you receive full, commented source, your own team can maintain it too. We also offer ongoing support and version-upgrade retainers — for example migrating the module when you move between Odoo 17, 18 and 19 — priced separately from the initial build.

Yes. Balances are stored server-side on a dedicated gift.card model and validated on every transaction, so a card sold in one shop redeems in any other store on the same Odoo database as POS sessions sync. Every movement is written to an immutable card.transaction log with the user, session and store, giving you one authoritative balance and a complete cross-store audit trail.
Which Odoo versions and editions are supported?
We build for Odoo 17, 18 and 19, on both Community and Enterprise. The module is built on standard Odoo primitives — models/ORM, ir.model.access.csv and record rules, XML/OWL POS views and QWeb reports — so it slots into your existing setup and chart of accounts. Tell us your exact version and edition and we target that build; cross-version migration is available as a follow-on.
Can it integrate with our accounting, eCommerce and other systems?
Yes. Outstanding gift-card value is tracked as a liability and reconciled on redemption against your existing chart of accounts. Because everything is built on the ORM and exposed over XML-RPC/JSON-RPC, external systems — your webshop, CRM, marketing automation or a mobile app — can issue, check and redeem cards programmatically. Odoo eCommerce and loyalty integration can be scoped in as part of the build.
How do you prevent fraud and balance-tampering at the till?
Validation is enforced server-side, not just in the UI: expired, over-drawn, inactive or blocked cards are rejected at the ORM level via @api.constrains checks. Access is separated with record rules and ir.model.access.csv so a cashier can redeem and top up but cannot manually adjust, void or reissue a balance — those actions are restricted to managers and every one of them is captured in the immutable transaction log.
