Accounting firms run their clients' books beautifully but manage their own practice on spreadsheets, email threads, and memory. Odoo out of the box gives you strong accounting, timesheets, and invoicing, but it has no native concept of an "engagement," a filing deadline that repeats every quarter, a per-client compliance checklist, or a retainer that should trip a WIP alert when logged hours exceed the agreed fee. The stock account.move, project.task, and sale.order models were built for a company selling products or delivering one-off projects — not for a firm carrying dozens of clients through recurring bookkeeping, VAT/GST returns, payroll runs, year-end closes, and statutory filings, each on its own cadence with its own owner. That gap is exactly where partners lose margin and miss deadlines.
This is a build-to-order configuration package: ECOSIRE builds a firm-specific practice layer on top of Odoo and installs it for you. Technically, we ship a proper Odoo module — a __manifest__.py declaring dependencies on account, project, hr_timesheet, sale_management, and mail — rather than a pile of Studio tweaks that break on upgrade. We model your real objects: an engagement model (models.Model) linking a client res.partner to a service type, a fee basis (fixed, retainer, or hourly), a responsible partner, and a recurrence; compliance obligations carrying @api.depends computed next-due dates; and WIP/realization figures computed from account.analytic.line timesheets against the engagement fee. Recurrence and deadline reminders are driven by scheduled ir.cron jobs and base.automation rules, so a Q1 VAT engagement regenerates its task, assigns the owner, and posts a mail.activity reminder without anyone remembering to.
On top of the data model we build the surfaces your team actually uses: a partner dashboard and client-load kanban in OWL/XML views, a compliance-calendar list grouped by due date, QWeb PDF templates for engagement letters and monthly WIP statements, and access control via ir.model.access.csv plus record rules so a staff accountant sees only their assigned clients while partners see the whole book. Where you already push data from a tax portal, bank feed, or document-management tool, we wire it through Odoo's XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API rather than manual re-keying. Everything is scoped to your Odoo edition — Community or Enterprise — and targeted at your version, with support for Odoo 17.0, 18.0, and 19.0.
Delivery is build-to-order and starts with a short scoping call. We confirm your service catalog, deadline rules, fee structures, and roles, then write a fixed-scope statement of work, build on a staging database, run UAT with your team, and deploy behind a rollback plan. Typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope. There is no instant download — this is software we build, install, and support specifically for your firm. Pricing starts from $349 (indicative, single-company base scope); multi-company or multi-branch practice consolidation, deeper localization for statutory return types, and the volume of historical client data to migrate increase the quoted scope. You receive a fixed quote after the scoping call, never a surprise on the invoice.
Runs a book of dozens of clients and needs a single view of every deadline, WIP position, and staff workload — without living in spreadsheets or chasing status by email.
Owns onboarding, recurring-filing scheduling, and capacity planning. Needs onboarding to provision the standard task set automatically and deadlines to never depend on one person's memory.
Uses Odoo Accounting and Timesheets internally but manages the practice off-system. Wants engagements, retainers, and compliance modelled natively so time flows straight to invoice.
Responsible for keeping the instance upgrade-safe. Needs a versioned module with clean `ir.model.access.csv`, record rules, and docs — not undocumented Studio customizations.
| Kriterium | ECOSIRE | Benutzerdefinierter Build | Konkurrent | Odoo Native |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fit to accounting-firm practice workflow | Purpose-built engagement, compliance, and WIP model shaped to your firm | Achievable but you specify and pay for every detail from scratch | Generic assumptions; rarely matches your service catalog or deadlines | |
| Recurring deadline automation | `ir.cron` + `base.automation` regenerate filings and raise `mail.activity` reminders | Must be designed and built yourself, then maintained | Basic reminders if present; usually not tied to filing cadence | |
| WIP / realization on retainers | Computed live from `account.analytic.line` vs agreed fee with over-budget alerts | Bespoke build; ongoing effort to keep formulas correct | Limited or fixed-format reporting, hard to adapt | |
| Role-based visibility | `ir.model.access.csv` + record rules: staff see assigned clients, partners see the book | Possible but you define and test every rule | Coarse permissions; often all-or-nothing | |
| Upgrade safety | Versioned module with declared `__manifest__.py`, targeted to your Odoo version | Depends entirely on the developer's discipline | Varies by vendor; you inherit their upgrade cadence | |
| Integrations (bank / portal / DMS) | Wired through XML-RPC/JSON-RPC within scope | Fully bespoke; longest lead time and cost | Only whatever the vendor pre-built | |
| Time to value | 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope, installed and supported | Months of spec, build, and QA before anything runs | Fast to install but slow to bend to your process | |
| Ownership and support | Full source + git handover, docs, training, and a support window | You own it but carry all maintenance alone | Licensed; support and roadmap controlled by the vendor |
No. This is a build-to-order package. There is no instant download — after you request a quotation and confirm scope, ECOSIRE builds the module for your Odoo version and edition, installs it, and supports it. You receive installable source code and the git repository at handover.
Typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope. The clock starts once the scoping call is done and the statement of work is signed. Larger practices — multi-company consolidation, deep localization, or heavy data migration — can extend the timeline, and we state the target dates in the SOW.
Pricing starts from $349 as an indicative single-company base-scope figure. It is not a fixed price. After a short scoping call we confirm your service catalog, deadline rules, fee structures, integrations, and data migration, then issue a fixed written quote. Drivers like multi-company practice, extra integrations, localization depth, and migration volume increase the quoted scope.
Every engagement includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration questions. Because we ship a properly versioned module (not Studio tweaks), it is built to survive upgrades within your targeted major version; migrating to a newer Odoo major release (for example 18.0 to 19.0) is a scoped follow-on we can quote separately.
We build to your edition. The core practice layer — engagements, compliance obligations, WIP, security, and QWeb reports — works on Community. Some conveniences depend on Enterprise apps you may already run; we confirm exactly what your edition supports during scoping so nothing is assumed.
Yes, within scope. We integrate external systems through Odoo's XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API so data flows in instead of being re-keyed. The specific connectors, their direction, and volume are confirmed on the scoping call and priced into the fixed quote.
We build and test on a staging database first, run UAT with your team against a signed-off test plan, and deploy behind a documented rollback plan. Your production instance is only touched once the staged version is approved.
