Multi-Carrier Shipping Hub — Build-to-order live rate shopping, label printing and tracking across parcel, LTL and FTL for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations — scoped, quoted, then built as X++ extensions for your estate

What we build

  • Live rate shopping across parcel, LTL and FTL accounts at pack or confirm time, implemented as a rate engine so it appears alongside native rating in the rate route workbench
  • Carrier account configuration per legal entity, site and warehouse on TMSCarrier, covering service levels, account numbers, negotiated rates and freight bill types
  • Rule-driven carrier selection: cheapest, fastest, cheapest meeting the requested delivery date, customer-mandated carrier, customer collect account, or a routing guide by zone and weight
  • Container and packing-structure aware rating using dimensional weight, container types and multi-piece consignments rather than a single rounded shipment weight
  • Label generation in ZPL or PDF at container and package level, printed through the F&O document routing agent to warehouse network printers
  • Warehouse mobile app integration on the pack, containerize and load steps so operators get a rated, labelled carton inside the existing device flow
  • Address validation with residential and commercial classification before a label is purchased, writing corrections back to the delivery address with an audit trail
  • Tracking capture against WHSShipmentTable and the packing slip, with batch-framework status polling into a tracking workspace and exposure through data entities over OData
  • Quoted freight posted as charges (MarkupTrans) on the sales order or as an estimated freight accrual, with ledger dimension defaulting on every freight posting
  • Carrier invoice import with line-level matching against quoted and shipped consignments, producing a quoted-versus-actual variance report for freight audit
  • International documentation support: commercial invoice data, HS codes from the released product, incoterms and delivery terms driving duty and tax paid handling
  • Void, reprint and end-of-day manifest handling on the batch framework, with a full audit of every label purchased, voided and reprinted so unused labels are never invoiced

Über dieses Produkt

Transportation management in Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management is genuinely capable, and it rates against tables you maintain. That is the problem. The moment carriers reprice, add a peak surcharge, change a fuel index or renegotiate a zone, the rate tables in F&O become a historical document. Warehouses respond the way warehouses always do: they open the carrier's own web portal on a second screen, key the shipment again, print the label from there, and paste a tracking number back into the ERP later, if there is time. The cost that finally arrives on the carrier invoice bears no traceable relationship to anything the system quoted.

Everything downstream inherits that break. Freight recovery on the sales order is a guess. Carrier invoice audit is impossible at line level, so nobody does it. Customer service cannot answer a where-is-my-order question without a portal login. And the routing decision — which carrier, which service, for this carton, to this postcode, by this date — is made from memory by whoever is packing.

What ECOSIRE builds

A shipping hub that lives inside F&O and rates live against the carrier accounts you already hold. Built to order for your warehouse topology and your carrier mix, delivered as X++ extensions with the source.

Live rate shopping where the decision is made

Rating happens at pack or confirm time, against your negotiated accounts, across parcel, LTL and FTL in the same call. The hub is implemented as a rate engine so it appears alongside native rating rather than beside it, which means the rate route workbench, freight bill types and the transportation configuration your team already understands stay meaningful. Selection is driven by rules you define: cheapest, fastest, cheapest that still meets the requested delivery date, a customer-mandated carrier, a customer collect account, or a routing guide by zone, weight and service level.

Labels at the pack bench

Labels are generated at container or package level and printed through the F&O document routing agent to the network printer at the station, in ZPL for thermal printers or PDF where that is what the site runs. Rating is aware of the packing structure — dimensional weight, container types, multi-piece consignments — so a three-carton shipment is quoted and labelled as a three-carton shipment rather than a rounded guess.

Inside the warehouse mobile app

Where your team works in the warehouse mobile app, the hub is called from the pack, containerize and load steps. The operator scans, closes the container, and receives a rated, labelled carton without leaving the device flow or touching a browser. Nothing about the existing wave, work template and load structure has to change to accommodate it.

Addresses, tracking and the customer

Addresses are validated and classified residential or commercial before a label is bought, with corrections written back to the delivery address and an audit trail of what changed. Tracking numbers are captured against the shipment and packing slip, and status is polled into a tracking workspace on the batch framework. Because tracking is exposed through data entities, your customer portal, service desk or notification flow can read it over OData without anyone re-keying a consignment number.

Freight cost that finance can audit

Quoted freight lands as charges on the sales order or as an estimated freight accrual, depending on how you recover it. When the carrier invoice arrives it is imported and matched line by line against what was quoted and what was actually shipped, producing a variance report. Unused labels are voided and audited so they never become billed freight. Ledger dimensions default onto freight postings so cost lands in the right place in the management pack without a manual journal.

International shipments

Where you ship across borders, commercial invoice data, HS codes from the released product, incoterms and delivery terms feed the carrier call so duty and tax handling is declared correctly at the point the label is bought, rather than corrected by a broker afterwards.

Who it is for

Distributors, manufacturers and multi-site retailers running F&O with a real warehouse operation — typically the Warehouse Management module, multiple ship-from sites, and a mix of small parcel and freight. It suits organisations with negotiated carrier contracts they want to actually exploit, and finance teams who have never been able to audit a freight invoice. It is not for a business shipping a handful of parcels a week from one site, where a carrier portal is honestly sufficient.

How delivery works

1. Scoping call. F&O version and update cadence, legal entities, warehouses and pack stations, whether you run WHS or basic warehousing, your carrier list and which accounts and API credentials exist, printer estate, routing rules, and how freight is recovered from customers today.

2. Fixed quote. A written scope naming every carrier integration, the routing rules, the label formats, the mobile app steps touched, the reports and the acceptance criteria — priced as a fixed figure. We do not start building before you approve it.

3. Build. Development runs against your F&O version, with each carrier integration demonstrated against your own account in a test mode before it is considered done.

4. Install in test, then production. The deployable package goes into your Tier-2 sandbox through your LCS and DevOps pipeline. We configure carrier accounts, routing rules and printers with your team, run live labels at a real pack bench, and then schedule production. Typical end-to-end lead time is one working week depending on how many carriers are in scope.

5. Support. A defined support window follows go-live for defect fixes and carrier API changes within the delivered scope. You already hold the source and the documentation.

What we do not claim

There is no instant download and no free trial, because nothing exists until we build it for your estate. We do not resell a shipping platform and we make no certification or partnership claims. We integrate against the carrier accounts and credentials you hold, using the carriers' own interfaces, and we tell you honestly during scoping which of your carriers expose an API good enough to rate and label against and which do not.

How delivery works

  1. 1

    Scoping call

A short call to confirm the workflow, your platform version and where the integration boundaries sit.

  2. 2

    Fixed quote

You receive a written scope and a fixed price. Nothing is built until you approve it.

  3. 3

    Build and test

We develop against a copy of your configuration and test it there. Typically two to four weeks.

  4. 4

    Install and support

Wir installieren auf Ihrer Instanz, übergeben den Quellcode und schließen zwei Wochen Go-live-Support ein. Fehler im von uns gelieferten Code beheben wir kostenlos.

Was Sie bekommen

  • A deployable package containing the X++ extension model, built against your F&O version, with full source delivered into a repository you own
  • Installation into your Tier-2 sandbox and then production through your own LCS and Azure DevOps release pipeline, performed jointly with your team
  • Configured carrier accounts, service mappings, freight bill types and routing rules per legal entity, site and warehouse
  • Label templates for each carrier and format in scope, wired to your pack-station printers through the document routing agent and proven with live test prints
  • Documentation pack: configuration guide, routing-rule reference, label template notes, error catalogue and a runbook for every batch job
  • Two live handover sessions — one for warehouse and logistics operators, one for IT and finance — recorded for internal reuse
  • A defined post-go-live support window covering defect fixes and carrier API changes within the delivered scope

Für wen das ist

Distribution Centre Manager

Watches packers alt-tab into carrier portals because the ERP quotes a rate nobody believes. Getting a rated, labelled carton inside the warehouse mobile app pack step removes the second screen, the double keying and the tracking numbers that never make it back into the system.

Logistics / Transportation Manager

Negotiates carrier contracts that the operation then fails to exploit because routing is decided by habit at the pack bench. Rule-driven rate shopping across the full carrier mix turns the contract into the default behaviour, and the variance report finally shows whether the rates being charged are the rates that were agreed.

Financial Controller

Accrues freight on an estimate and approves carrier invoices in bulk because line-level audit has never been possible. Matching every invoice line back to a quoted and shipped consignment, with dimensions defaulting onto the posting, makes freight a cost that can be challenged rather than absorbed.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Can I download and install this today?
No. Every ECOSIRE app is built to order. After a scoping call you receive a fixed quote covering the specific carriers, routing rules, label formats and warehouse steps in scope, and we build only once you approve it. Typical lead time from approval to production install is one working week, driven mainly by how many carrier integrations are in scope. There is no trial because the software does not exist until it is built for your estate.
Which Dynamics 365 versions and editions are supported?
Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (Finance & Operations), deployed through LCS with Tier-2 sandbox and production tiers. We build against your current application and platform update level and target the current release plus recent prior releases in mainstream support. The Warehouse Management module and the warehouse mobile app are supported, and so is basic warehousing with a simpler flow. This is not a Business Central app and does not use AL.
Which carriers can you integrate?
We integrate against the carrier accounts you already hold, using each carrier's own published interface, and you supply the credentials. During scoping we check each carrier on your list for a rating and labelling interface that is fit for production, and we tell you plainly where one is missing or too limited — some regional and LTL carriers offer tendering or tracking only. Every carrier that makes it into the quote is demonstrated against your own account before the build is called done.
Does this replace native F&O transportation management?
No, it extends it. Freight bill types, carriers, transportation configuration and the rate route workbench remain the objects your team works with; the hub registers as a rate engine so live carrier rates appear where static table rates appear today. Anything you already run through native TMS, including LTL tendering and freight reconciliation processes, continues to work alongside it.
How do labels actually get printed at the pack bench?
Through the F&O document routing agent to the network printer assigned to that station, in ZPL for thermal printers or PDF where a site uses laser. Printer assignment follows the warehouse and workstation configuration you already maintain, so a packer at a given bench prints to the printer beside them without selecting anything.
Will this overlayer or disturb our existing customizations?
No. Everything ships in a separate model using Chain of Command and event handlers, with no overlayering of standard or partner objects. During scoping we review your existing models to find where our extension points touch code you already extend, and we document those interactions so future platform updates can be tested deliberately rather than discovered in production.
