Tooling & Calibration Management is a build-to-order extension for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, engineered by ECOSIRE for precision manufacturers who must prove that every measurement was taken with in-calibration equipment.
Dedicated tool, gauge, and fixture register built as AL tables with Card and List pages — asset number, type, manufacturer, serial, custodian, current location, and lifecycle status
Calibration schedule per asset with interval, last-calibrated date, and a FlowField/calculated next-due date
Daily job-queue routine that flags due and overdue calibrations and raises notifications to the responsible quality user
Calibration certificate and measurement-report storage via BC's native document attachment / incoming-document framework, kept against the asset of record
Out-of-calibration guard: event subscribers that warn or block when a production, quality, or output order references an asset past its calibration date
Tool-life and usage tracking that accumulates cycles, hours, or measurements against each asset for replacement and recalibration planning
This is not an instant AppSource download. ECOSIRE builds the extension to your processes, installs it as a per-tenant extension on your Business Central environment (cloud or on-prem), and supports it after go-live.
At its core is a dedicated tooling register implemented as new AL tables and Card/List pages: every tool, gauge, and fixture carries an asset number, type, manufacturer, serial, current location, custodian, and status. Calibration is modelled as a recurring schedule — each asset has an interval, a last-calibrated date, and a calculated next-due date. A scheduled job queue entry evaluates due and overdue items daily and raises alerts so nothing slips past its window.
Calibration certificates and measurement reports are attached using BC's native document attachment / incoming-document framework, so the certificate of record lives beside the asset. Tool-life and usage are accumulated against each asset, and shared tooling moves through a check-in / check-out flow that records who holds what and where.
Because it is real AL, it integrates cleanly: event subscribers can warn or block when a production or quality order references an asset that is out of calibration; the OData/REST API exposes the register for Power BI, Power Apps, or Dataverse; and permission sets scope who can recalibrate, scrap, or release tooling.
ECOSIRE handles requirements, AL development, data migration of your existing tool list, UAT, installation, and post-go-live support — a complete, owned, audit-ready solution rather than a spreadsheet bolted to your ERP.
Owns the calibration program and must prove to auditors (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100) that every gauge was in-cal when used. Needs due-date control, certificate storage, and a clean audit trail rather than a fragile spreadsheet.
Manages shared fixtures and tools across cells. Needs to know who has what, where it is, and how much life is left, with a controlled check-in/check-out instead of a sign-out sheet.
Wants production to be physically prevented from using out-of-calibration equipment, with the controls living inside Business Central next to production and quality orders, not in a disconnected app.

Because this is build-to-order, there is a delivery lead time — it is not an instant download. A typical engagement runs about 3 to 5 weeks from signed requirements: discovery and design, AL development, migration of your existing tool list, UAT, and production install as a per-tenant extension. The exact timeline depends on how many custom calibration rules, integrations, and status workflows you need; ECOSIRE confirms it in the scoping call.
No — it is delivered as a per-tenant extension (a custom .app) that ECOSIRE builds and installs directly onto your Business Central environment, cloud or on-premises. It is not a public AppSource listing. This keeps the solution tailored to your processes while still upgrading cleanly alongside Microsoft's Business Central updates.
Every build includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and questions. Because it is a real AL extension, ECOSIRE keeps it compatible with future Business Central major releases and can extend it — new calibration rules, additional integrations, more reports — under a support or change-request agreement. You own the deployed extension on your tenant.
Yes — that guard is implemented with AL event subscribers on the relevant production, output, or quality documents. When an order references an asset whose calibration date has passed, the extension can warn the user or hard-block the action, based on the policy you choose during scoping. The control lives inside Business Central, not in a separate system.
Yes. The tooling and calibration tables are exposed through Business Central's OData v4 / REST API, so you can build Power BI dashboards (calibration-due trends, overdue counts, asset utilization), drive Power Apps, or sync to Dataverse. ECOSIRE enables and documents the endpoints as part of the delivery.
