Customer service leads need to coordinate service cases and escalations without losing ownership when records cross system boundaries. This concept starts with the business decision and evidence required at each stage, then maps that intent to supported BigCommerce surfaces.

Workflow and object design

Receive a fulfilment & shipping signal, validate its source and required fields, resolve shipment, consignment and order, apply the service case coordination decision rules, write the approved state, then record a correlated audit result. The source event is fulfillment.service.requested; the resulting audit event is fulfillment.service.recorded. The mapped business surface is shipment, consignment and order.

Technical approach

The scoped design may use REST Management APIs, GraphQL Storefront API, signed webhooks, Stencil theme extensions, Catalyst storefront components. Authentication is based on store-level or app OAuth credentials with least-privilege scopes. The implementation accounts for BigCommerce rate-limit headers and GraphQL complexity budgets.

Failure and reconciliation design

Every request uses the idempotency key bigcommerce-fulfillment-service:source-id:revision. Retryable transport and throttle responses enter bounded backoff; validation and mapping failures enter a visible exception queue. A reconciliation pass compares source revision, target identifier and recorded state, then permits controlled replay without duplicating the business action.
