Construction margins live and die on the job cost sheet, but Odoo out of the box was not built to think that way. Native Project and Analytic Accounting can capture costs against an analytic account, and Sales/Purchase can attach documents to a project, yet there is no single sheet that shows the original estimate, committed costs from open POs and subcontracts, actual costs posted to date, and forecast cost-at-completion side by side per cost code. Estimators export to spreadsheets, project managers reconcile by hand, and by the time a job is over budget the overrun is already sunk. When a contractor tries to bend the native Project app into a cost-control tool, they hit the wall fast: analytic lines are flat, there is no committed-cost concept, retention and change orders have nowhere to live, and WIP / percentage-of-completion has to be computed off-system.
`project.cost.sheet` model bound one-to-one to `project.project`, with `project.cost.sheet.line` records keyed to a configurable cost-code / cost-type hierarchy (labor, material, subcontract, equipment, overhead)
Four-column cost tracking per code — original budget, committed, actual-to-date, and forecast cost-at-completion — computed via `@api.depends` fields, no spreadsheets
Committed-cost engine that pulls open `purchase.order.line` and subcontract amounts not yet invoiced, so encumbrances show before they become actuals
Actuals sourced automatically from `account.analytic.line` and posted `account.move.line`, so timesheets, vendor bills, and stock moves land in the correct cost code on confirmation
Live variance, cost-to-complete, and projected final margin computed per line and rolled up to project total
Change-order records that adjust the revised budget while preserving the original contract value and leaving an audit trail
This is a made-to-order Odoo module that ECOSIRE builds for your specific chart of cost codes and workflow — it is not an existing apps.odoo.com download you can install today. At its core we add a project.cost.sheet model (models.Model, one-to-one with project.project) whose project.cost.sheet.line records are keyed to a configurable cost-code / cost-type structure (labor, material, subcontract, equipment, overhead). Compute fields declared with @api.depends aggregate four columns per line — budget (from the imported estimate), committed (open purchase.order.line and subcontract amounts not yet invoiced), actual (posted account.move.line and account.analytic.line values), and forecast — then derive variance and cost-to-complete without you touching a spreadsheet. Because everything hangs off Odoo's native analytic backbone, a timesheet, a vendor bill, or a stock move automatically lands in the right cost-code row the moment it is confirmed.
On top of the model we build the views your team actually works in: an OWL/XML cost-sheet form with an editable line tree, drill-down from any cell to the source documents, and a QWeb PDF report that prints a clean job cost sheet for owner and lender reporting. Change orders are captured as their own records that adjust the revised budget while preserving the original contract value, retention is tracked as a withheld portion on both receivable and payable sides, and WIP / earned-value figures are exposed for period-end. Security is enforced properly — ir.model.access.csv for group-level create/read/write and record rules so a project manager sees only their own jobs while controllers see the portfolio. Optional automated actions can flag a cost code the moment committed-plus-actual crosses a configurable percentage of budget, and every figure is reachable over the standard XML-RPC / JSON-RPC API for Power BI or an external data warehouse. It runs on Community or Enterprise (Enterprise adds native Accounting and Documents integration we wire into where present), and we deliver against Odoo 17.0, 18.0, or 19.0.
Delivery is build-to-order. It starts with a short scoping call to confirm your cost-code structure, how estimates arrive, which cost types you commit against, and your reporting needs; from that we produce a fixed-scope quotation and, once confirmed, build against your target Odoo version with typical delivery of 2–4 weeks depending on complexity. You get the module on a staging database for UAT before it ever touches production, with a documented rollback plan. Pricing starts from $299 (indicative, single-company base scope); multi-company consolidation, deeper accounting/retention localization, migration of historical job costs, and extra integrations (Power BI, external estimating tools) increase the quoted scope — the firm number is fixed in writing after the scoping call.
Owns margin accuracy and period-end WIP. Needs committed vs actual vs forecast in one sheet, retention tracked on both sides, and earned-value figures that reconcile to the general ledger instead of a parallel spreadsheet.
Runs individual jobs and is accountable for staying on budget. Needs a per-project cost sheet that flags an overrunning cost code early — while there is still time to act — with drill-down to the POs, bills, and timesheets behind every number.
Sets the original budget and wants the as-built actuals fed back against the estimate by cost code, so future bids are informed by what jobs actually cost rather than what was quoted.
Runs the company's Odoo instance and needs the costing layer built cleanly on the native analytic backbone, properly secured with record rules, upgrade-safe across 17/18/19, and exposed over the API for downstream BI.

| المعيار | ECOSIRE | بناء مخصص | منافس | أودو الأصلي |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Job cost sheet (budget/committed/actual/forecast) | Purpose-built four-column sheet per cost code | Possible but you design and maintain it from scratch | Varies; often actual-only, no committed column | |
| Committed-cost tracking (open POs/subcontracts) | Built in from open PO and subcontract lines | Must be specified and built by your developer | Rarely included out of the box | |
| Fit to your cost-code structure | Configured to your codes during the build | Fully yours, at full custom cost and timeline | Fixed layout you adapt to | |
| Change orders & retention | Modeled as first-class records both sides | Buildable if specified up front | Often partial or absent | |
| WIP / percentage-of-completion | Earned-value figures exposed for period-end | Requires bespoke reporting work | Sometimes; depends on the module | |
| Delivery & accountability | Fixed quote, staging UAT, rollback, support window | Depends on your team's capacity | Self-install; support varies by vendor | |
| Ownership & upgrades | Full source + git handover, 17/18/19 upgrade path | You own it; you maintain upgrades | Licensed per vendor terms | |
| BI / API access | All fields exposed over XML-RPC/JSON-RPC for Power BI | Achievable with extra work | Depends on the module's design |
This is a build-to-order module, not an instant download. After a scoping call we confirm the fixed scope and build against your target Odoo version; typical delivery is 2–4 weeks from confirmed scope, depending on cost-code complexity, integrations, and any data migration. You test on staging before production.
Pricing starts from $299 as an indicative figure for a single-company base scope. We hold a short scoping call, then issue a fixed-price written quotation. Drivers like multi-company consolidation, retention/localization depth, historical data migration, and extra integrations adjust the quote — but the number is fixed before we start building.
Every engagement includes a post-go-live support window for defect fixes and configuration questions. Because we hand over the git repository and full source, you own the code. We also offer ongoing support and version-upgrade retainers to keep the module current as you move across Odoo 17, 18, and 19.
It builds on top of native Odoo — Project, Analytic Accounting, Purchase, and (on Enterprise) Accounting. It does not replace them. Actuals and committed costs are read from your existing POs, bills, timesheets, and stock moves, so there is no double entry.
We deliver on Community or Enterprise for Odoo 17.0, 18.0, or 19.0. On Enterprise we wire into native Accounting and Documents where present; on Community we use the analytic and journal layer available there. Your target version is confirmed at scoping.
Yes. Every model and computed field is reachable over Odoo's standard XML-RPC / JSON-RPC API, so cost-sheet figures, committed costs, and variances can be pulled into Power BI or an external warehouse. We can scope a reporting connection as part of the build.
That is the point of build-to-order. The cost-code hierarchy, cost types, change-order rules, retention percentages, and overrun-alert thresholds are configured to your workflow during the build rather than forced into a fixed off-the-shelf layout.
