If you outsource dyeing, plating, cutting, stitching, or PCB assembly, ERPNext's native Subcontracting works well for a single hand-off: one Subcontracting Order, one raw-material transfer, one receipt. But real outsourced routing is rarely one step. A greige fabric goes to a dyer, then to a printer, then to a stitching unit — and native ERPNext gives you no first-class way to chain those stages, to track work-in-progress sitting at vendor two while vendor one is already paid, or to reconcile the kilos you supplied against the kilos that came back plus the scrap that didn't. Finance ends up in spreadsheets, and the shop floor loses visibility of goods it still legally owns but can't see.
Chained multi-stage subcontracting: a `Subcontracting Stage` DocType links each outsourced operation to a parent job so stage N's output becomes stage N+1's supplied input automatically
Supplied-material reconciliation DocType that nets issued qty against returned finished goods, standard consumption, and declared scrap, posting adjustments via standard Stock Entries
Scrap and process-loss accounting with configurable tolerance thresholds per operation, flagging variances that exceed the allowed loss percentage
Country-specific job-work challan Print Formats (India GST Rule 45 / ITC-04-style delivery challans, plus configurable formats for other jurisdictions)
Per-vendor `Subcontractor Rate Card` DocType holding operation rates, minimum charges, and turnaround SLA days
Live WIP-at-subcontractor visibility: a report/dashboard of quantity and value currently held at each vendor per stage
Subcontracting Pro is a proper Frappe application (its own module, installed via bench get-app and bench install-app) that extends ERPNext's manufacturing and stock domains rather than fighting them. We model each outsourced route as a chain of Subcontracting Stage DocTypes linked to a parent job, so the output of stage one becomes the supplied input of stage two automatically. A Supplied Material Reconciliation DocType nets issued quantity against returned finished goods, expected consumption, and declared scrap — with hooks.py on_submit doc events posting the resulting stock and value adjustments through standard Stock Entries so your inventory valuation and GL stay correct. Per-vendor Subcontractor Rate Card records hold operation rates and turnaround SLAs; a scheduler_events (cron/daily) job flags jobs that have breached their promised turnaround so nothing silently ages at a supplier.
On the technical side we build the way you'd build it yourself if you had the time: DocTypes with proper naming series and permissions, role profiles (for example a Subcontracting Manager role) so only the right people submit reconciliations, client scripts for the in-form calculations, and server scripts / whitelisted methods exposed over the Frappe REST API so your other systems can create jobs and pull WIP status programmatically. Country-specific job-work challans (India GST Rule 45 / ITC-04 style delivery challans, and configurable delivery-note formats for other jurisdictions) are generated as Frappe Print Formats you can brand and localize. Everything is native ERPNext — upgrade-safe, in your own bench, with no lock-in.
Because this is built to order, you are not downloading a generic marketplace app and hoping it fits. After a short scoping call we confirm your exact stages, reconciliation rules, challan format, and integrations, then build against your ERPNext version (v15 or v16). Typical delivery is 2 to 4 weeks from confirmed scope. We deliver on a staging site for UAT first, hand over the full git repository and technical documentation, run a training session with your team, then install to production and support you through go-live and a defined post-launch window.
Runs greige through dyeing, printing, and stitching at separate subcontractors. Needs each stage chained, material reconciled kilo-for-kilo across the whole route, and GST job-work challans for goods moving between units.
Sends parts out for plating, powder-coating, or heat treatment. Needs scrap and process-loss tolerances tracked per operation and clear visibility of value sitting at each vendor before paying service invoices.
Supplies components to a contract assembler and needs batch and serial traceability carried through the outsourced build, plus REST API hooks so the MES or procurement system can create jobs and pull WIP status.
Owns valuation accuracy and statutory job-work reporting. Needs reconciliation adjustments to post through standard Stock Entries and GL so inventory value and ITC-04-style returns reconcile without spreadsheets.

| المعيار | ECOSIRE | بناء مخصص | منافس | أودو الأصلي |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-stage chained job work | Built-in: stages chained, output feeds next input automatically | Possible but you design and build the chaining yourself | Rare; most marketplace apps handle single hand-off only | |
| Supplied-material reconciliation | Netting DocType issued vs returned vs scrap, posts via Stock Entries | Build from scratch and get valuation postings right yourself | Usually basic consumption tracking, limited scrap netting | |
| Country-specific job-work challans | Configured Print Format for your jurisdiction (e.g. ITC-04-style) | You author and maintain the Print Format | Generic template, often India-only or not localized | |
| Per-vendor rate cards & SLAs | Rate Card DocType with rates and turnaround SLA tracking | Design the model and SLA logic yourself | Rarely included; rates usually per-order only | |
| WIP-at-subcontractor visibility | Report/dashboard of qty and value held per vendor per stage | Build the reporting yourself | Limited or absent | |
| SLA breach alerting | Daily scheduler job flags breached turnarounds and notifies | Build scheduler events and notifications yourself | Typically none | |
| Fit to your process | Built to your confirmed scope, UAT on staging first | Fully bespoke but you carry all build and QA risk | Take it as-is; configuration limited | |
| Ownership & upgrade-safety | You own the git repo; extends core, tested on v15/v16 | You own it, but upgrade-safety depends on your discipline | Vendor-controlled; upgrade timing not yours |
This is build-to-order, not an instant download. After a short scoping call to confirm your stages, reconciliation rules, challan format, and integrations, typical delivery is 2 to 4 weeks from confirmed scope. We deliver to a staging site for UAT before any production cutover, so you validate before you go live.
You receive a defined post-go-live support window for fixes and questions after launch, and you own the full git repository so nothing is locked away. Because the app is built to be upgrade-safe against Frappe/ERPNext v15 and v16, we can quote version-compatibility maintenance and enhancements as an ongoing arrangement after the initial window.
We build and test against Frappe/ERPNext v15 and v16. We confirm your exact version and bench setup during scoping and build against it, extending native Subcontracting and Stock rather than overriding core so future upgrades stay clean.
Native Subcontracting handles a single supplier hand-off well, but it has no first-class concept of chained multi-stage routes, no netting reconciliation of supplied material against scrap and returns, no per-vendor SLA tracking, and no country-specific job-work challan out of the box. Subcontracting Pro adds exactly those layers on top of the native flow.
The app is a separate Frappe module that extends native DocTypes and uses documented hooks, server scripts, and scheduler events rather than patching core files. That is the upgrade-safe pattern. We test against v15 and v16, and version-compatibility checks can be part of an ongoing support arrangement.
Yes. We expose whitelisted server-side methods over the Frappe REST API so external systems — an MES, procurement, or a supplier portal — can create jobs, advance stages, and query WIP status. Specific integration endpoints are agreed during scoping and documented on handover.
Yes. You receive the installable source as a private git repository with full commit history, README, and setup instructions. There is no lock-in — you can host, maintain, or extend it yourself, or continue with ECOSIRE for support.
